Slug, I often think about all of the fire fighters and law enforcement professionals who's salary would make a regional FO's look over-paid.
Actually they don't do too bad, at least round here. My friends in local public service ( Police Lt., Detectives, Atty Advisor and Airport Managers ) have college degrees and earn $70K and up. Some are around $150,000. Plus they get the 20 year retirement and bene's like County vehicles. I would not want most of the public service jobs, but some of these airport manager positions would be very sweet.

I would not think most pilots would be "median" income earners in other professions. Chuck Yeager doesn't exactly ride in a Tubby Buggy through the isles at the local Wal Mart.

FDJ2,

I thought you'd know by now that nobody highlights positives anymore. It's always the gloom and doom - and they play right in the hands of management...

You're Right. My Bad!:)

Right now Delta is spending $1.34 for every $1.00 in revenue coming in the door.

Raise the ticket prices by at least 134 %? Could it be that simple? Now where's my multimillion $$ bonus?

Of course, there is a third option. No E190, no 777 and DL mainline just stagnates (or shrinks). Right now, this seems to be the path DL is currently headed down.

There are quite a few possibilities out there, and of course everything is subject to change, but for now I'd expect a mainline capacity increase of 13%-15% in international flights and 4%-6% domestic through the increased utilization of current mainline aircraft. Mainline CASM will continue to drop as DAL begins to benefit from the transformation plan. At least an additional 100 furloughed pilots will be recalled between May and December, at a rate of no less then 10/mos,which should back fill approximately 100 retirements May 1st. The older 737s will retire on schedule and I wouldn't be surprised, considering that management wanted to negotiate the pay rates, to see an order of 737-700s and 900s later this year or possibly in 2006.

sleepyBut I take issue with this idea that JB or Airtran pilots are that poorly paid. QUOTE said:
Really? So you think their E190 rates, which are less then CMR's CRJ70 rates are o.k.?
