True if you failed the panel portion of the interview. If you failed the written, or other Nasa type stuff you could be invited back again, especially if you had a good panel portion the last time. If you know a DAL pilot then have them check for you if you'd be considered again. HR will not bs you on this and tell you to resubmit if you'd be wasting your time.

A human resources rep, a current captain and a retired captain. (in my case)

Ditto here.

If you didnt pass any combo of the psych, medical, or tech testing- you can be reinvited back.

The panel (HR) portion is the one chance deal.

No clue why, just the way it's done.

There was a guy in my interview class that was re-interviewing and he was offered a job. No b.s. here.

Please provide a name. This will be corrected.

Delta's hiring practices are not flexible and they will be respected.

Like I would put a name here.

He passed the panel portion, he was re-interviewing as he had failed one of the other portions.

Was it true that if you weren't offered a job you could never reapply to Delta again?
I interviewed twice. They told me to try again in six months after my first interview. I did well on the panel but scored a little low on the testing on the first day. I called them SIX MONTHS TO THE DAY to inquire about another interview. Within ten minutes I had another invite for an interview. When they say try again in six months, they mean it!

why not just apply to Compass if you failed your Delta interview?

Is Delta Air Lines considering pilots right now??
I think they will look at hiring pilots after they see what the economy/loads/fuel/etc. looks like next year. I would love to see us start hiring again but I think it will still be at LEAST 18 months. But in this industry things could be completely different by next week.

The latest is 3-5 years for hiring.

I'd agree. I don't see any major hiring for along time (read 3 plus years) except for maybe CAL.

My guess:
-CAL - maybe in 18 months
-SWA- maybe in 18 - 24 months
-AA- still 1700 on furlough from TWA and 911. Add in a US merger and hiring again equals never
-UAL- 1300 on furlough, if no merger I'd say limited hiring in 3 to 4 years, never if US merger
-US - never, good chance after I'm furloughed in feb2010 that I'll never see this company again.
-DAL/NW - 3 to 5, they have way too many pilots, something has to give.

LCC's/Nationals
-JB - maybe this summer 2010, around 100 or less
-Airtran - same as above
-Spirit - in about a year maybe sooner if they get the AB orders
-Allegent-sporadic 10 here and there type classes, you will need to know someone dur ot the competition

regional/commuters and other bottom feeders

Compass - sporadic 10 here and there
Colgan - some for the comming Dash8's
Mesa - never, maybe only recalls
Republic - not for a year or so, they are pairing down 50 seaters, have 100 on furlough and still have to merge FNT and MW pilots
Piedmont - never
PSA - never
Skywest - in about a year
Mesaba - never
Air Wiss - some here and there in about 6 months
Eagle - never
Coex - never
Pinnacle - limited in 2010

UPS - not for 2 years
FDX - not for 3 years

If you fail the Interview portion you are done. That was a change last time and may be changed back to two strikes this time around.
If you fail the MMPI psyche portion you go to a review panel and they make the determination on your future with DAL.
Medical portion you can fix.
Testing: A failure gets you a revite in six months.

As for hiring. I see smoke in that tent. Exact words are, "We are closer to hiring that we are furloughing....."
There is a real possibility for it in the not so distant future. They have not decided or determined it one way or another.
Add to it, that we have no hiring dept as we are not hiring (legal reasons I am sure)

They did change the status on delta.com

Had the MEC chairman on the jumpseat this past week. He says we are 1000 pilots heavy right now but a little short for next summer. Interesting. I read out of that, and other things that were discussed, that we were ok until next fall but the economy would dictate what will be done after that. My feel is that we were good but hiring wasn't discussed at all.

I'm still holding off on buying the new truck.

Do you think there will still be a permanent ban for those who were less fortunate?

For your sake I hope not. I am not the lawyers that make the call. If and when we hire again, there will will be a lot of legal questions answered.
