(1) Delta has cut its' water usage by almost half and is building its' own waste water treatment plant to not only save money, but also operate as a profit center by selling services to others at ATL who are getting gouged by the City's water rates.

For those of you not familiar with Atlanta's water problems, the City's infastructure is not up to par and has been repeatedly fined for dumping raw sewage. At the same time we have had such a severe drought that politicians are talking about coastal desalination projects which are so expensive to operate even the Saudi Arabians decided it was energy prohibitive.
Delta's action to cut water usage from 800,000 gallons a day to 100,000 is the very good news for Delta, Atlanta and those who live down stream.
(2) Some kind of joint venture is coming with Air France and KLM. Announcements will be made in Paris in October, but rumors are that this fits in well with Delta's international push and takes unique advantage of the open skies agreement.

Those who should know are saying positive things about the effect this will have for Delta's pilots.
