(1) Delta has cut its' water usage by almost half and is building its' own waste water treatment plant to not only save money, but also operate as a profit center by selling services to others at ATL who are getting gouged by the City's water rates.

For those of you not familiar with Atlanta's water problems, the City's infastructure is not up to par and has been repeatedly fined for dumping raw sewage. At the same time we have had such a severe drought that politicians are talking about coastal desalination projects which are so expensive to operate even the Saudi Arabians decided it was energy prohibitive.

Delta's action to cut water usage from 800,000 gallons a day to 100,000 is the very good news for Delta, Atlanta and those who live down stream.

(2) Some kind of joint venture is coming with Air France and KLM. Announcements will be made in Paris in October, but rumors are that this fits in well with Delta's international push and takes unique advantage of the open skies agreement.

Those who should know are saying positive things about the effect this will have for Delta's pilots.

So, does recycling water and working on a better joint venture with AF/KLM mean better pay and benefits for DAL pilots?

Profitability, good will and more flying seem like positive indicators.

Absolutely. If we hit our financial goals each year we get up to a 6% raise each year, along with a profit sharing check that could be significant. As far as benefits, some of those increases will have to wait for contract talks. But the pay will be going up with higher profits.

Bye Bye--General Lee

nope. It just means the more pro DAL posts by fins means the better chance he has of being hired.

Is there an unwritten rule that everything on Flight Info has to be negative? If so, what fun is that?

I was critical of Delta when Delta was doing things in our community that deserved admonishment.

These days Delta is doing good and deserves credit. The water initiative is a local issue, but any Company who takes the initiative to clean up, be more efficient and be a good neighbor to the community really does deserve support.

Unless you haven't figured it out yet, fins is already hired. This is his way of apologizing without having to say it!

Perhaps you are part of that negative problem. You seem to think that your opinion is THE sole opinion that matters. <whisper> It isn't.<unwhisper>
Pretty much everything you have ever written about the Delta MEC has been wrong, aka mis-information.
In short, the negativity towards you is a product of you, your continual lack of correct information, and your apparent unawareness of the lack of correct information. Some of that is bound to spill over when you do manage to find a nut, oh blind squirrel.

In short, you made your bed.
