Oh yeah, 'cause regional pilots have the energy and bankroll to feed stray dogs and homeless people on the weekends whist the au pair and housekeeper take care of everything at home.

Like he said above cooperate and graduate and remember its not just flight ops doing the hiring. HR folks like that community stuff and they get a say.

I did hear you should emphasize community service on your app and in the interview. What that has to do with flying the jet, I don't know, but play by the rules they set and you may get the call. Good luck!!

I actually have quite a bit of community service type stuff. Any suggestions on how to include this type of thing on airlineapps?

no clue.....Not familiar with the format of that site. Not sure how resumes are collected or any of that. Sorry I'm not much help there.

I do know if you have a Delta Pilot recommend you using his/her delta.com email address, it gets weighed heavier with a higher point score for an invite.

Good Luck!

I thought you always say that you never left the regionals because the pay and the senior schedules were good enough to not have to leave. So you should have the energy with 19 off and the bank roll. Not FO's but you should. Right?

Times have changed, gentlemen. US Airways is big on service and now Delta is looking for it as well. Check out pilotcareerprep.com.

Even if you have one weekend a month, or a day here or there, FIND time to do some type of community service. It doesn't have to be much. Visit the elderly and your grandmother at the senior center. Your Father or Grandfather in the military at one time? Great, you can be in the Sons of the American Legion, which prioritizes service to the community and obviously the country. Meetings are once a month and aren't mandatory.

These things show you are more than a regular, and that you will more than likely go above and beyond for passengers, and you hold personal characteristics that psychologically speaking, lead to a better and more rounded person.

You don't have to agree with how things are being done, but your career may depend on adjusting to it.

But what if you hate old people, specifically between the age of 60 and 65?

I laughed at this one.

On topic though, I have heard from several sources that community service is very important to the application sifters at the majors.
