Funny thread...but seriously....

To each his own. There are many reasons to make the decisions we make. I have to remain at SkyWest for at least the next 4 years because my wife is in residency in SLC...with only 4 days off a month...I can't afford to commute and "waste" a day with her(if our marriage is going to be a good one). Would I like to stay somewhere exotic one every trip and make more money? Is the sky blue? However, OTHER things also contribute to the decisions I make for my career. Thus, I'll address my choice in 4 years...a lot can happen in that 4 years and if SkyWest is still around, I'll have 9 years of seniority. Having been furloughed and having suffered through crappy reserve, I think I will be leaning toward leveraging that 9 years and remaing here. Like I said, it'd be fun to fly bigger planes, with cooler overnights and for more money...but those things don't matter as much to me as good schedules(sooner rather than later), not commuting, and...the big one...not hanging off the end of a seniority list.

Like I said, to each his own.
You are lucky. Money will not be an issue or your family in four years. You have the ability to make this choice. Some are not afforded that luxury.

Come on GL I love Fayetteville, NC overnights. Parents live there and they pick me up at the airport each time I go there. Never been to that hotel however.

I read Fayetteville, NC is one of the most crime ridden cities in America. Good for you and your parents. Do you speed home as fast as you can after they pick you up? I would. I am sure your swomp community in New Bern is nice too....? (on the water WITH a dock.....wow) Maybe New Bern will be the next Nantucket?

We will. As hard as it is for you to believe, some of us have ABSOLUTELY no desire to "cross the pond".

Cheers, Salud, or whatever they say in Ukraine when they give you your new wife.

Great, you don't have to go across the pond if you don't want to. You can't seem to understand that. I guess you just like Panama City, Ft Walton, Hilton Head, and Tri-Cities. Hey, some guys are scared to venture to new places, and like familiarity. The ATR feels GOOD to you, and you are COMFORTABLE in it. That's great. That's awesome.

You get edjumacated my friend. The Dash goes above FL180. You are just a loser that for close to 3000 waste of time posts, gloats about how great his job is to everybody, yet spends his whole life on flightinfo.com. Just the fact you get aroused by going over 180 is messed up. Why don't you go vacation or spend family time with all your mega Delta bucks rather than give all the people trying to get on with majors crap?

After further review, you have almost 10,000 posts. Get a life.

You sound like a genius from South Boston. How you like dem apples? Anyway, I am adding to my post number thanks to responding to people like you. You are right, what a complete waste of time! (that would be you southie)

This whole thread was a waste of time, and I responded to it. That is the way it goes, now go get a beeer down near the yard, with Nomar...

Yeh, flew a nonstop from Tokyo to DC once-a pretty long boring day. Flew from DC to Honolulu, 1 hour on the ground, then back to DC. Now that's a turn. That kind of stuff used to be fun, and it would be exciting if ya hadn't done it before, but on a scheduled airline, it's gotta get very monotonous. Pay's good, and that 777 looks cool, but it's not too envigorating. Thanks for the answer, and good luck. The lee guy posted about 3 times in a row that he gets 20 hours in 3 days, alot of it sleeping. And he gleed about all the places he's been. A little too much eager. Ya know what they say, act like you've been there before. And the lee guy better be careful, about sayin where he goes-Trevi Fountain has become a hangout for transgender pickups. Not a good situation, no way.

1 hour stop in Honolulu and then back to DC? That really suks. Let me guess, the Military? If not, you really had a bad job there. I wouldn't be bragging about that if I were you. If you flew Stealth Bombers, then I could understand it. Otherwise, you sound dumb and easily manipulated. And I do like the Trevi-fountain, but never knew about the transgender crowd you hang out with there. Nah, don't go that way, but if you do, that's suuuper. Let me teach you something---a 20 hour 3 day is GOOD for airline pilots. And doing INTL flights you can do 2 of those in a row, or three if you like. That is something most domestic guys cannot do due to the 30 in 7 rule. I think you may need to learn a lot more, but I don't want to "waste" another 10,000 posts schooling you.

Let me guess General Leigh, you wrote it down, then you read it.

I believe everything I read!

Dick Gozinya

That's what I read, and it probably is true, even with Pope AFB and Ft Bragg there. I would love to investigate it, nah, no I wouldn't. No thanks.

I would trust being around the good folks of Bragg anytime, that includes Division, the Groups and the guys on the back side of R5311. Pope AFB, to small to even do a single house break in.

You got the right idea. The family equation beats any airplane. You'll be glad when ya get old and retired, and your daughter still loves you! Way to go!

Sorry, transgender boy, I'd have no problem flying circles around you. That flight was on 9-12-01, when kids like you were on the ground. The B-2 is a very boring airplane-long hours cruising (too checklist intensive, for your simple mind)-but that's all you know about-straight and level with the autopilot on-boring. Don't speak about things of which you know nothing about. Oh wait, that's all you do. I have a sneaky feeling you might be my neighbor, he's always talking like you-out his butt. And if you're chasing hours, you gotta be in deep debt. And as far as teaching, you couldn't teach my 13 anything-who cares about 30 in 7, yep, the original General Lee got his a$$ whipped, and you carry on the tradition in fine fashion-what's that 'L' on your low sloped forehead. You can go back to your coloring book, now. Have fun at Trevi, rookie!

Wait, Don't you live in A-T-L????

Jeez, give me a break. Don't make me come to ATL and stap moron on your forehead!

Thanks Spidey for all of your wonderful service, but now you are in the land of "flying busses", and you suk. Guess what Iceman, this is the airline business, and all we do is carry people or boxes around. No more formation flying (you were a crew chief anyway, Sarge), or dropping bombs. So, I don't know anything about that? Sure I do, I watch Wings on Cable, and that is all I need to know. You can try to slam me for all it is worth, and I think it is funny, but that still doesn't take away the fact that you really are the looozer. Rookie? I think not. You were a crew chief on 9-12, weren't you? Well, the military needs good crew chiefs no doubt. Keep flying BE1900s now, and someday you will graduate to a Dash-8 with Wsurf. That will be fun, forever. And, seriously, you do have a lot to learn, and I certainly don't have the time to teach you, nor the patience.

You bet, and it sure beats NC. Can your Dash-8 make it to ATL? Maybe with 2 fuel stops. No, really, have fun in Fayetteville with your parents, and keep doing that forever. You have LIFER written all over you. Oh, that's right, you supposedly will go for FedEx. Riiiight. Sure you will. Right. Yeah. Sure. No doubt. Maybe you will try in a couple years, maybe 3. Sure.

Agreed. I'd rather fly my short 3-leg day with only 9 hours of duty and end up having a few drinks in Daytona Beach. That 16-hour leg crap just ain't for me. But, I'm glad the General is happy doing it. Whatever works for him. It's just not for me.

That is what is great about Delta, you have a choice. You can fly the 16 hour stuff, or do domestic. You can do multiple legs (MD88 stuff), or do one leg day transcons (738 or domestic 757/767), or you can bid 777 and fly to Shanghai. People at Delta who don't want to fly long haul don't have to. Variety is the spice of life, and guys like John Pennecamp will stay at ASA flying the ATR because he lacks the fortitude to actually try something new, while he stays "comfortable" staying in his "zone of tranquility." Kinda sad, actually, BUT SAFE. It's great when you know every ATC frequency ahead of time everywhere you go(NOT REALLY).

You don't like spending time with your parents? Were you abused or sexually assualted by your dad?

I am sure most people would jump at a chance to fly into a city on a regular basis that there parents or family members live in to spend quality time with them.

I kinda feel sorry for you.

Did he ever say he didn't like spending time with his parents? He said your parent's home city was dangerous. I think you are really stretching it here to try to be funny, and you are not succeeding.

Well if I want your opinion I'll give it too you.

Yep, Fayetteville, NC is way more dangerous then A-T-L. wink wink

Well said. Sometimes QOL and family outweigh the bigger airplane and slightly bigger pay check.

In the modern airline industry the incentive to move on to a legacy carrier is not as great as it once was. The pay, benefits, and QOL disparity as not as great, and it hardly pays to give up 10 years of seniority just to start over. It would take you almost 10 years to get back to where you are and make up the lost money over time. And despite Lee's asinine bragging, very few Delta pilots fly that schedule. Take a look at a 4 day Mad dog pairing (which most of the Delta pilots fly). The trips are the same as the RJ trips... 4+ legs a day and short overnights. All for just a little more money.

Yes it is. And I'm very happy and comfortable. And I barely work. To each his own.

Hey, I heard of a study on NPR the other day that the incidence of cancer in workers who work the backside of the clock is 4x that of the general population. I hope your have a good will to take care of your hot Ukrainian Bride. They also tend to age much faster. I'll be well rested after my long beach overnight. Cheers.
