Delta Fleet Plans ?

120 MD80s gone in five years ? That seems ambitious. It wasn't all that long ago they were buying every MD90 they could find...and then those 88 B717s.

I'm thinking the MD-90's will prly hang around. Nearly a third of the -88 fleet is leased, so it makes sense those would go when leases expire. And I suspect the remaining -88's are coming up on big airframe checks....

All a guess....

Hard to say what the announced fleet changes mean. It wasn't all that long ago RA was talking about how much they liked the MD88/90. They have 65 MD90s listed in the fleet count. 91 B717s.

What I'd like to see is more flying previously considered "regional" moved back to mainline proper. Maybe some of the announced purchases would be a move in that direction ?
