Delta closing BOS Res center;

Oops, my bad. I copied and pasted this from another message board, where a big jetblue string was going on. Someone had altered the article. Here it is in corrected form.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the Boston Globe
---DELTA TO CLOSE BOSTON RES CENTER---
Delta announced plans to close its Boston reservations call center Sept.
1, a move that will eliminate about 353 positions. The airline, which
next month will move into the newly renovated Terminal A at Boston Logan,
notified workers of the closing this week. Delta is also closing a
similar reservations center in Los Angeles at the same time, eliminating a
total of 403 telephone sales jobs at that center. All workers will be
offered other positions with the airline. Delta will keep open nine other
call centers around the country.

Citing the recent jetBlue announcement of massive expansion in Boston, Delta announced plans to close its Boston reservations call center Sept.

It might be convenient to cite JetBlue as the reason, but maybe with the high healthcare costs in MA it might be cheaper elsewhere - right? I hear India is a lot cheaper... I don't see a direct connection between JetBlue building Boston as a hub and closing a non-flight related service that can be operated elsewhere for less money... I think it is a convenient excuse.

Jetblue chased them out of DFW, too. Didn't you hear?

Are you kidding me? Delta announces that JetBlue's expansion in BOS is why they are closing the BOS Res center - just days after the announcement from JetBlue?

Is Delta so desperate to trash JetBlue that they try to make it look like they were forced to make this sudden decision? Does this strike anyone else as childish? I should let my seven-year-old teach them a lesson about integrity - he's obviously more mature about the subject.

Wonder why they did not shut down ATL when we showed up there, but hey, gotta give it to them, it is taken out of the Siegel playbook:"They are coming to philly to kill us"!

Oh well, sure it will make GL mad!

Honestly, does an airline really need nine res centers?

Ah, the voice of reason.

Actually, the post should have read 'Jet Blue closes Delta call center. Next

I am sure they will make more money, unfortunately, when they create more call centers in India. A lot of the booking is done online anyway.

And Bigmotertoter,

Were you the guy who said AA was going to get our 777s? Just curious.

Bye Bye--General Lee
