It's hard to believe that Delta can hire very many pilots with hundreds still on furlough.....

I would be cautious.

Folks are being cautious. That's why they will hire off the street with folks on the street.

All I can say it's a decent gig, although it certainly will never be as good as it was.

For new hire, realize you WILL be junior for a while. To have a life plan a move to NYC, ATL or SLC which is where new hires will be placed so you aren't commuting forever as I think you may be on reserve for a while.

Immediate numbers for recall is only for 200. The exact number is still TBD as the 200 will first be offered to guys out on leave. But, they still envision a bunch staying out (some forever) which is why they are hiring.

As months go by and Delta (hopefully) recovers as a stronger (and stand alone) carrier, guys like myself on leave will return and reclaim our more senior places on the seniority list. We will all be offered spots before future new hires arrive.

It's hard to believe that Delta can hire very many pilots with hundreds still on furlough. Also if Delta were to merge with another carrier, your newhire status may be tenuous as the integrated seniority list is determined. Delta is a great company but until the merger situation is resolved, I would be cautious.

Before they hire every single furloughed pilot will have been given chance at recall - the ONLY people on the street are those there by choice.
