Looks like Delta will be at the AirInc circus in LAX this month. Do they really need to go to AirInc to find applicants? One would think that they would have enough qualified guys with credible internal recommends to fill up classes this year. Do you think it would be worth a trip to LA for a person that has no internal recommends? I'm thinking about giving Kit some more of my cash.

AirINC is a joke--they only take your money..DL has thousands of resumes already....DL and other companies get an all paid trip to come to those conferences and most likely all their drinks too....Don't GO....

Hmmmm.....thousands of worthless resumes...or meet them and shake their hand. Doesn't seem like such a stretch to me. From the recruiter's perspective, it's a lot more helpful when you are looking at the face to go with the name.

I have no idea how it works these days but the decision of where to rack and stack applicants used to rest exclusively on Plato's desk. My guess is the new guy has the same system which would have me believe that whatever secretary they send to this has no sway in who they even interview. Internal recs and membership in WAI or OBAP seem to be the ticket in (as in many large airlines). If you know a DAL Captain who is willing to speak to Jon in person, send them in.

Once again, let me frame all my comments into the guess category. I hope someone who goes to the Air Inc party can report back.

FWIW, I have heard that some smaller airlines have set up interviews for people they meet at these seminars, so depending on your interest, you may have some luck after all!

It costs the companies nothing to go and Kit tries to get them to come whether they need people or not as experts on the industry employment situation. Usually they define their needs.

Not if it's the face in your avatar Smacktard. If I looked like that I'd skip the AirInc job fair too.

Hmmmmmm, How can it hurt? There are a bunch of other folks there as well....and sometimes you make your own luck.
