Does anyone have a guess as to how many, if any, of the Delta recalls will be leaving ASA and therefore leaving some slots open at ASA?

I'm so stoked to hear that news regardless. I hope they can all get back ASAP!!!!

PS- Could someone walk my resume in to ASA? I'm a real nice guy and an OK pilot!!!!

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff,

We're all excited about the Delta recalls, but this won't impact ASA at all. All the folks being recalled were furloughed this spring or later. ASA hasn't hired anyone since 1/03. I believe we hired a total of 13 furloughed Delta pilots (in addition to quite a few furloughed AA/US/UAL pilots).

The latest I've heard on hiring for 04' is about 100 hew hires probably starting sometime this spring. We have some in the pool, but I couldn't tell you how many.

We're getting 15 CRJ-700's in 04', and that concludes our firm orders. However, Delta has said a decision would be made by the end of this year about future RJ deliveries for 05' and beyond.

Sorry I don't have any better news to pass along, but as you know, this can all change tommorow (for better or worse). As far as walking resumes in- I've done that for several good friends with very good time, and none have gotten a call.

>>ASA hasn't hired anyone since 1/03<<

I thought this was the case also, but I have two friends who just completed training on the CRJ (coming over from the EMB) and there were two new hires from Delta (both were previously at ASA) in their class. This is fact. So if they just finished up IOE, than their hire date would have been sometime in early May.

>of course it was fact the earth was flat at one time too.
;)

I want to thatnk the ASA people once again for letting our furloughed pilots interview and get hired at ASA without losing their seniority at Delta. That will be remembered---you can bank on it.

Bye Bye--General Lee:) ;)

Yea, right....bite that carrot, guys, bite that carrot! You'll be remembered after all the Capt's sons, daughters, cousins, nephews, etc....Also, don't forget all the military buddies that are waiting to get on.

Bailout,

I haven't heard about any new hires, and the seniority list which came out in July shows our most junior pilot was hired 1/03. If anyone was hired after that, they'd be on the list.

ASA pilots WILL be remembered for their help. The fast track for them will have to be good enough to encourage this kind of thing in the future.

Maybe have a certain number of guaranteed ASA slots per class. No interview, just some sort of chance for the pilot to meet some Delta people and ask questions of each other.

Just some ideas that would easily be implemented. The bottom line is that the ASA pilots will get a fast track to Delta if they want it. Their assistance must be reciprocated and it WILL.

Thanks ASA,

NYR

I am a furloughed Delta pilot and I am in the ASA pool. I keep a close watch on the hiring at ASA and have spoken to Julie Ellis and there has not been anyone hired since 01/03. I have spoken to many Delta pilots both active and furloughed and they all agreed that the ASA pilots that want to move up to mainline when we start hiring will be treated with the same courtesy that they have shown or furloughed pilots. ASA treated me very well during the interview process and it has just been unfortunate that they have not been able to hire more of or guys an gals, however this is in no way the pilots fault. There has been one Delta Connection carrier that has been hiring and could of helped the Delta furlouhgees out, but they turned their backs on us and I look forward to returning the favor.

We will. And for those at ASA, we will remember your generosity. When Delta eventually starts hiring again, many of us will have input and talk to the interviewers about our views on hiring. Just watch.

Bye Bye--General Lee:cool:

e120pilot,

Thanks for the info. Thats pretty much what I figured but you never can tell. I keep hoping for the best.

I went to the job fair in Cleveland on June 28 and gave my resume to Cynthia Milner. I'm hoping that will keep it at least in the "don't throw away just yet" pile.

Again, congrats to Delta. I sure hope this is the start of the return to brighter days.

Fly safe,

Jeff

Jesas, this pising match between DAL and Comair never ceases to amaze me!!!

Let me get this right, DAL is not going to hire a comair applicant because its managment decided not to hire furloughed DAL pilots? This is assinine. I know this has been covered WAY too much on this board, but if DAL wanted flow back then they should have offerred flow through before the sh1t hit the fan. Just my opinion. It is almost humorous, if it wasn't so annoying, how every thread on this board is hijacked into a "comair is the source of all evil" rant by a half dozen DAL gents. Oh well, back to the cubs game...

For any Delta-wannabes out there, ASA might be your fast-track in the future... I know a lot of Delta pilots, and they are all very appreciative of ASA's stance - Delta pilots have A LOT of say in the interview process.... That is a FACT.

Stayseated,

To say that the whole majority of Comair pilots could not have swayed Comair's management into reversing the stupid policy is ridiculous. ASA, which is Comair's twin, made an allowance, why couldn't they? Oh yeah, that's right, it was set in stone.....Wrong. You are right, this topic is on here too much, but all I have to say is that when Delta eventually starts hiring again in a couple/three years, certain pilots may have a tougher time getting that acceptance letter. It will all have to do with "CRM" problems. And hey, most Comair pilots do not want to leave Comair anyways.....

Bye Bye--General Lee:cool:

Sour grapes, from a salty 'ol Comair dog. Some of you bitter fellas are funny.

I've got to think maybe more than one or two Comair guys would have liked for their company to hire Delta furloughs. So even these guys can expect to get ostracized at Delta despite this?

Don't forget about the redheaded stepchild of Delta Connection carriers....Chautauqua! (LOL) We do not make any furloughed major guys give up their seniority number and there is no training contract. It is my understanding that a few Delta (and United and American and TWA and....) have taken the opportunity. We are not currently hiring (today) but we are expected to begin hiring en masse very shortly. Rumor (I know the dreaded R word) has it over 100 a month, which is a TON for us. I know that ASA would be easier for many of you due to the ATL hub, but we are expecting DFW to open up in complement to MCO. Of course, if you want you can fly out of STL, LGA, PHL, RIC, GSO, BUF, CMH or IND as well! Not Delta Connection, but an airplane nonetheless. Good luck to all the furloughed Delta (and everywhere else) folks in your job search. Hopefully I will see some of you at CHQ. It really is a good place to work.

I know there must have been some Comair people that disagreed with their MEC and managements decision to not over turn the rock solid rule of not being able to keep your seniority number, and unfortunately they didn't cause a wave to overturn that rule. It might have been a case of the senior pilots intimidating the junior ones, and I am sure they can describe that to the Delta interviewers in detail. Make sure you bring in an illustrated pie chart showing those who were "for" helping the furloughs, and those "against." Then make sure you tell the interviewer how "we at Delta" screwed you during your strike. That will really help. Ask the interviewer whether or not he "walked the line" for them in CVG during the strike.....Look, I am not saying that a Comair pilot will NOT be hired, but the interviewers will have to make the decision, and they will be briefed by a lot of people.

We are also aware that other airlines besides ASA have helped our pilots in their time of need, and Chataqua and recently Skywest have been helpful. Thank you for your support. Let's hope the rest of our furloughs come back soon, and all of the airlines get healthy again someday. And then, let the hiring begin.

Bye Bye--General Lee:cool:
