Any final guesses as to the announcement tomorrow? I'll start.

DFW closing as a hub/focus city. Mainline and DCI pulling out. 90s to the shuttle, 88s split between ATL and CVG. The 732s to be retired as their leases expire starting in 05.

That's all my crystal ball is telling me.

UUMMMM yeaahhhh.... I'll take a stab at it....

New Name for the Airline

ComAir
Operated by: Delta Airline

New Paint Job......

Probably the egg looking for the sperm

New Uniforms......

Losto spandex for the fat fu%Ks that don't realize that being a FA is suppose to be temporary

And I'll venture to say that they are going to include a mask for the FUGLY a$$ old birds.

All in all I think its gonna be good for everyone:D ;)

You forgot:

AA, AirTran and jB toasting GG (with a Starbuck's of course) as they swoop in to claim all those customers.

My guess is DFW is gone. They haven't made money here since '97, so it makes sense. The other factor is AA announcing last week they will add 70 flights out of DFW between now and next summer. I think they are scooping up slots before Airtran and the likes get any more. DAL will concentrate on SLC and CVG (no competition) and Mecca (ATL). It's too bad it took them this to decide to either $hit or get off the pot in DFW. Gee, if you're not making money-let's do something else. And I didn't even go to Harvard!

Networ-king,

I liked your comments. But remember, a lot of those stews went to college to be a flight attendant---right? They got a degree---in partying at college in the early 70's!

As far as what may or may not happen, I think a DFW pullback (??) will be announced for after the Xmas holiday is over, and some flight attendant and possibly some mechanic furloughs. The flight attendants have no more rules and really no FARs to back them up(that is the key difference between them and pilots---no rules)--and their new PBS bidding system has given them a large surplus. Also, many flight attendants are flying over 100 hours a month---and a Song stew I talked to flew 170 hours last month. (17 FLL to LAX turns at 10 hours each) As far as pilot furloughs, we still have that No Furlough Clause until it is negotiated away, and we are short currently due to retirements. Sure, that could go away with a cap increase, but we do not know what that will be at the moment. I have heard going to 80 hours with a flex up to 85. We are about 450-500 short right now, and a lot of the retirements were Capts on big equipment, so it will take awhile to train people. I hope we do keep the MD90s---and I wonder where they will go---I think they may put 738s back onto the Shuttle. It will be interesting.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Word on the street among the Delta mechanics is that the MD-80' s are going to DCI.
This is why they are being refurbished. Also ASA maint managers and leads have been summond for a must attend meeting with Barnett at the end of this month.

Kind of makes you wonder doesn't it.

Yeah, like what it is you are smoking.

Apparently the Delta mechanics don't know the 88s can't go to DCI, thanks to scope. I guess they CAN, but they'd just be expensive paperweights. Many rumors will be smelted tomorrow morning...but I'm sure many NEW IMPROVED ones will take their place!

My guess,

In an attempt to compete head to head with Airtran in Atlanta, Southwest is going to buy Delta. Southwest will keep all the gates and liquidate the rest...with the exception of a few 737's.

I can't see the DCI training department being able to handle the MD80 transition training, what with all the B777 and Concorde classes we're about to start running too.

The meeting with Skip is probably to tell them they're all going to have to work for whatever Mesa pays its MX guys. Or at best, to tell the DFW guys they get to pick between ATL MCN and BTR. Oh joy.

But I heard they may get THREE cookies this XMas.
