I thought you had some retirees that got basically NOTHING from the retirement debacle. They weren't old enough to fall under the PGB and got less than the 45,000 dollars max.

I would like to point out that the DC-10 is quite a sweet ride. It's even sweeter because each year I make more money flying it. On that note I wouldn't bag too much on the military fliers. At least we have got raises and haven't taken pay cuts. Ha Ha. Pay cuts are fun. Just kidding...I wouldn't know if pay cuts are fun. You tell us. Just kidding.

You shouldn't go as General Lee you should go by U.S. Grant. As in Unconditional Surrender. That's what you looked like a few years ago. Did that help you stay out of BK? Once again...just kidding.

On a completely unrelated note, did Delta consider canning you when you got caught on "To Catch a Preditor"?

Getting hired is going to be no problem. Kit Darby says there's a pilot shortage...there will be a bidding war for my services.

Retirees have their PBGC guarantee, they also have PC 5 recovery (splitting up a $2.2B claim), if they were already retired they also shared in an $800M cash settlement, if they weren't they got their portion of a $650M note cash payment. If they were already retired, they had the opportunity to take 50% of their retirement as a single lump sum pay out, often exceeding well over $1M in cash in addition to their PBGC payments, PC-5 redistribution, claim and cash settlement.

Most were given most of what they were owed. The PBGC was made "whole" by the claim sale, and the retired pilots also got an $800 million claim themselves. Some lost some healthcare benefits, but hey, we did go BK. I think most got more than they thought they were as we were going into BK. But, you knew all of that already.....? Lu---zer.

Hey Clown, you are slow, we all know, but you neglect to understand that I GOT $280,000 in the claim sale directly from BK. Of that $88,000 went to my 401Ks, and the rest was in cash which was taxed. I did very well, and the bottom guy who was furloughed the longest got over $200,000. In the meantime I am upgrading by next Summer most likely, and my pay will also be close to what it was prior to BK. One other thing, prior to BK we had a 75 hour cap on pay, even if you flew over it. (a bank system kept the over run of hours) Now we get paid what we fly. So, I really do make close to what I made.

But, you CAN'T HANDLE the TRUTH. Read above, again clowny.

That is the truth. BK suks, and expecting the same services (healthcare etc) after a company goes BK is ridiculous. We all pay more, including the retirees. Sorry. A lot of them did make it out with a large lump sum, and most will get more than they originally thought thanks to the PBGC being made whole.

Ch 11 must be awsome. I hope whatever carrier I go to goes through bankrupcy. I hear the SWA guys are in contract negotiations. Maybe they should ask the company for pay cuts and a trip through Ch 11. It's obvious path for a pilot's prosperity.

Congrats on your pay raise next summer (if you upgrade). Too bad you have to upgrade to make what you were making almost a decade ago. This is all conditional though. If you guys give up money again or let your mgt hose you on pay raises...then maybe you'll be working for even less next summer. I don't think I even need to remind you of a little thing called inflation.
