I have two questions for the pilots at ASA and Comair.

1. Why have the two pilot groups not integrated their seniority lists?

2. What is stopping ASA and Comair from negotiating scope stipulating that all aircraft flown under the DAL code with 70 or fewer seats has to be flown by ASA/Comair?

It seems to me that without these measures, DAL will play one group against the other and more and more flying will go to the carriers willing to work for less.

1) There is already a plan to accomplish a Comair / ASA seniority list based on DOH. Right now there is no reason to do this because ALPA will not allow us to negotiate with Delta. We have this refusal numerous times in writing. I even have my very own letter signed by none other than Duane Woerth. Combining ASA and Comair only reduces the DCI portfolio by one airline. There are seven, or is it nine, operators in the portfolio currently.

In other words an ASA / Comair merger accomplishes nothing and ALPA is against it anyway.

2) The aforementioned representational problem. ALPA will not allow us to negotiate with our employer. By forcing us to negotiate with a subsidiary twice removed from where the flying in allocated we are powerless to achieve any scope what so ever.

We do have scope over "our" flying as deemed by ALPA and Delta management (working together to maintain the apartied system). All ASA flying is performed by ASA pilots.

How is ALPA preventing ASA/Comair from negotiating with their employer? ASA is currently in negotiations so, who are they negotiating with? Do ASA and Comair not have a different management team running those companies than mainline DAL?

Yes. Comair management is separate from Delta management, as is ASA management. So, since Delta is the true employer of anyone that works for ASA or Comair, then we should be negotiating with Delta management. ALPA has prevented this from happening. I think the best solution to this problem would be a combined scope clause between all three airlines, and then we could stop the contractors from taking our work, and make a better situation for all DAL pilots.

as a comair pilot, why would i WANT to have a combined seniority list with ASA in the first place?
I feel the same way. The Comair list is senior to the ASA list. I doubt I could hold the left seat after we combined lists. However, bringing together the pilots who perform Delta flying is the only right thing to do.
