The retirement of these old airplanes means recalls at ATA.

Thanks for the used rides. Seven of them, anyways.

Yes, they will first be put on the Island runs from LAS and PHX for awhile - then they will be mainly used for the military lift.

Seven flyable 10's are coming (two for parts), four 1011-500's are still flying, when they come due for D checks they will be parked - net gain of flying aircraft in the end ----- three.

Anybody know why the NWA ALPA MEC didn't ask for the asset transfer protections with this sale.Anymore than six A/C they could have insisted on pilots going with the A/C.

Omni bought 6. Five to go online & one for parts.

Same reason they didn't when the last blatch of B727's were sold...the clause is intended as a speedbump or wicket for the process of asset transfers, not sales by the leasing company that owns the hulls of a discontinued fleet. Had NWA transfered 6 B757's pilots would have to be included in the deal, since the fleet is still operating at NWA.

The DC10's were not leased as I recall the as is most all of NWA A/C have some type bank assignment note from a bank in NY .The all put their claim tacked to the cockpit wall.I don't have time now to research the contract now but I don't remember anything about an operating A/C.

Still one of the best looking airplanes in sky.
agreed. Great airplane, never got to fly it, though. I was lucky enough to fly the dc-10-30 simulator numerous times.

Razor, Contract allows a one time a year offset ie 6 DC10' vis 6 A330's new to the property. Answered my own question.

My dad was one of the first FE's on it in the early seventies at NWA.

When he got through with training, he gave me his old black and white training panels and I pinned them to my bedroom walls.

Later I flew the thing at GAC, and rode sideways on it at FDX.

My third boy's middle name is Douglas, after the 10 and the 11, by the way....
