my 10-13X has a switch in the ANR box to turn the auto shutoff on or off...
Yep. I had mine upgraded to the 9 volt battery pack a while ago, and it came with auto-off.

Quality ANR doesn't use a 9 volt battery either. That's poor engineering! :)

Works fine for me. I find it much easier to change a single 9 volt battery in flight than 4 AA's, and the battery box is smaller. I haven't had any ANR issues to date. YMMV.

My 13.4X works well in the Mighty Roaring Beech. Better ANR than a stock 13.4 modded with the Headsets Inc kit, which I also tried for a while. It's bulletproof, which was a requirement of mine since it does the glareshield-to-floor dive at least once a day. DC does indicate that it has reasonable passive attenuation, but I think that's giving it way too much credit. Better than a Bose, maybe, but with the 13.4X I'm definitely huntin for a 9V the second ANR starts to go out. A good headset.
