Delta Air Lines Reports October Traffic

ATLANTA, Nov. 3, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Delta Air Lines today reported traffic results for October 2006 (see Note). System traffic for October 2006 increased 1.7 percent from October 2005 with a capacity decrease of 4.5 percent. Delta's system load factor was 77.1 percent in October 2006, up 4.7 points from the same period last year.
Domestic traffic in October 2006 decreased 5.5 percent year over year, and capacity decreased 14.1 percent. Domestic load factor in October 2006 was 78.4 percent, up 7.1 points from the same period a year ago. International traffic in October 2006 increased 24.0 percent year over year on a 27.2 percent increase in capacity. International load factor was 74.2 percent, down 1.9 points compared to October 2005.
Delta achieved its highest October load factors on record for consolidated system (77.1 percent with previous high of 74.2 percent in October 2004), mainline system (77.4 percent with a previous high of 74.7 percent in October 2004), mainline domestic (78.9 percent with a previous high of 73.6 percent) and Delta Connection (76.3 percent with a previous high of 71.4 percent). During October 2006, Delta operated its schedule at a 98.4 percent completion rate compared to 96.9 percent in October 2005. Delta boarded 8.9 million passengers during the month of October 2006, a decrease of 3.6 percent from October 2005. Detailed traffic and capacity are attached.
