Since I have never flown a CRJ,I can't vouch for their qualities. The ERJ has some nice features, like the seat reclines back far enough to catch a good snooze if you have a long enough sit in DCA out at "the world".I think the ailerons could stand to be lighter. It hand-flies ok,behaves well enough in the flare (the rudder is very effective in a crosswind).I wish we had the option to land flaps 22 in a blasting wind (gusting to 40 or so).The emergency release handle on the cockpit windows were computer designed to tear holes in the back of your shirt and the "hat holders" insure that your hat will be perfectly positioned behind your seat` so it's well smashed when you slide back to get out.It has a lot of wind noise and the Brasillia windshield seals tend to suckle.Dittos about the A/P flying an approach-turn the RA's down below 200' and leave it in heading mode until you're closer in.Same for joining a GPS course-it does "clearing turns".All of you guys who are talking about the gear noises on both airplanes have never ridden on a Trans States ATR.I recall a passage from Ernest K.Gann :"It sounded like a very bad accident in a big hotel kitchen"(Creeeak, groan,BANG,squeek,POP!).As for the 170,I like an airplane I can stand up in the gear well (I'm 6'4").Still lots of teething pains (what new airplane doesn't have them ?).Yeah,I know all about our pay issues,so spare me.

but you got to admit the windows on the crj, make it the worst plane EVER.

I have to agree about the windows. I like to like to look outside when I'm a passenger. Seems like the pax windows are very small and placed so low that you get a cramp in your neck from trying to look outside.
Also, they're just as quiet as a 727 is (probably more so) and 727 pilots don't wear David Clamps, I don't know why alot of the rj pilots still like to wear those things.
