Just curious...but does the DoJet have what you'd call a real FADEC? I'd say your complaints are about how the pilot interfaces with the sytem rather then how the system controls the engines.
And no, I can't say I've had problems getting the button twice into E-Climb. Maybe you were doing an E-TO when you hit the button twice sending it to CLB mode rather than E-CLB? I know that's a common oops but not a biggy.
It doesn't need to be told anything, it's smart enough to know temp, ice on or off, as well as if its reduced thrust or not. It uses detents. Put the lever in the appropriate detent and it does the rest. If you had to taxi out and shut down, you didn't have to re-input any data. It knows everything already. I know, it's not a big deal to have to do it on the ERJ, just seems silly that it can't contol the engine and have "Full Authority" until you tell it.
In the 4 1/2 years I flew the airplane, I only knew of one case where the FADEC ever shut an engine down, ONE. I asked the guy what it was like, it happened in intitial climb out. He said two things, 1) it was easier than in the sim 2) instead of climbing at 5000 fpm it was only climbing at 1800 fpm at VSEC (VFS in that plane).
