The best part is that the CRJ is practically a jumbo jet over there.
Except for all the jumbos.

No, that won't be the case, they will all reply, "Ahh, Cessna", Senmai desu ne".

which is , "wow a cessna, how small..."

Everything is either a "Jumbo" or Cessna.(sorry I can't spell)

But your are the pilot and GOD! Ohhh, Kakui ne.

iie..."senmai" ja-arimasen...."semai" desu. Ano...example desu....

Cessna wa cockpito no semai desu, dakara, Cessna wa hikoki no chisai desu.

semai=adj describes spaces only
chisai= adj for whole object

wakarima**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**aka?

Go to pprune.org...SOME of these contract pilots in Japan are not happy at all...depends on the organization your contracted with. There seems to be a steady number of pilots from the States interested in these positions, competitive mins are high...the problem is that few pass the medical. I'm not even close to being competitve with my times...

There have been numerous articles written in Japan about the impending pilot shortage due to retirements...JAL and ANA have done nothing to solve it. Soon, they have to start direct hiring for Gaijin pilots like Cathay or EVA Air...it's only a matter of time. There are not enough Nihonjin pilots in the pipeline. With deregulation, it's way too expensive for JAL/ANA to train brand new zero time pilots (i.e. Napa facility) I personally know two private pilots that are Japanese Nationals who are being recruited by JAL. They showed me a couple of message boards in Japanese...and this subject is discussed quite often. Now what's happening is JAL/ANA are trying to get Japanese Nationals (US green card holders) that are flying for regionals in the States to fly for JAL/ANA mainline as a direct hire. Again, this number is very small as well.

As far as Japan hating Gaijins...that is a myth. Like anyplace in the world...if you have respect for the culture, language and it's customs, the people of that country will respect YOU! The former CEO of Nissan is a Gaijin (French)...and so is the CEO of Sony. I know plenty of Gaijins working in Japan (mainly automotive and computer software sector) and they doing quite well. Once JAL/ANA become more like Nissan and Toyota, it will be much more Gaijin friendly...

I knew someone would bust my balls about that, but you're correct. I apologize for lumping the entire Asian continent together in my reference to broken English. I was just dying to say "Me so hawny. Me love you long time." And now look where it got me.

OK...now let's learn the word for narrow....

hosoi=narrow, thin or slender

Japanese grammer and vocabulary is very complex...lot's of rules, and for every rule there's an exception. Throw in Kanji and your in for some long nights of studying.

man you're going to be in for a treat. Our sim instructor was over there and he gave us tons and tons of info on what happened over there.

Just remember that over there even if the captain is wrong he's right and that saving face might even mean killing everyone on the plane.

BONZAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!

Gads! The Japanese roomaji spelling in here is almost as bad as the English... :)

Japanese grammar isn't that bad. English on the other hand, is the devil's language, so say many of my Japanese ESL student friends.

Kanji I admit have a very steep learning curve. But once you get the first hundred or so down, the rest become easier and easier, especially if you're a "visual" person. To me they are lots of fun.

Did you really say "gads"?

What? Would you prefer "gadzooks"?

Or maybe the Japanese:
チェ!
Che!
