Anyone know what size bag will fit in the CRJ overhead? I've searched and seen the bag recommendations, but not much was mentioned what will fit. I'd rather not have my bag stored in the cargo compartment (since Ive worked the ramp and seen how things happen!). Thanks.

Bags

I have a travel pro two and the dang thing is a really tight fit broke my wheel off twice, but check out the stopoverstore.com lots of cool stuff there and a few bags the pretty neats bags on there def fit and are pretty strong a lot better then the travelpro. They do cost more but ur paying for the quality

8" inches high is about the limit to fit. Most bags feature the expandable lid, which makes it worse.

The luggage works bag that everyone uses works great. It fits in the overhead on the CRJ just fine so long as you do not stuff it until it bulges. I bought the 30.00 duffle bag that attaches to the roll aboard to carry tennis shoes and winter stuff in.

So a 8x13x26 should fit? With the first year pay, I'll be going with the Walmart special... Thanks for the replies.

Where do you CRJ guys carry your laptops?

laptop

Laptop case on the top of my bag then sit it up front during flight, or I have a notebook so i just have a sleeve/sock for the notebook and stick it in my overnight bag and pull it out once I get on the plane. Easier to find something that sits on top of the overnight since u will have to take it out for tsa

Have they re-done your storage locker, or is it still blocked off by the reinforced cockpit door? They've just about got all the CMR planes re-done with the new access, which is a bit more of a pain in the arse than the old method, but better than sticking them in the back, or shoehorning them into the overhead.

Normal laptop case with the sleeve that slips over the roll-a-board handle. The laptop goes in the cockpit or under the seat for deadheads...do not EVER check or gate-check your laptop, or leave it in the back unattended with the filthy pigs. If you do, you will have a broken screen or a stolen laptop about once a quarter. There are plenty of thieves who know GD-well that they can snag a laptop out of that first overhead bin and walk out of the airport with it before anybody is the wiser.

Not all of us CRJ guys are dumb enough to base our finances off a regional airline job! Its easy to run some small business ventures from the road with said laptop.

online poker does not count as a bisiness venture.

I second the Costco bag, it's kind of the Semi-official SkyWest bag. I've been on numerous crews where all 3 of us had the Costco bag. It'll even fit in the overhead on the EMB (with the large bins) if you ever choose to upgrade your aircraft ;). Welcome aboard.
