So I'm sitting Airport Standby Reserve the other day, trying to rest and read a good book while doing the Airport Appreciation thing. Anyhow, 2 of our FA's start cackling back and forth like a bunch of old hens (large old hens, at that, but that's another story). We have couches and recliners in there for the pilots to rest in, and that area is in a dark, separate location in the crew room.

Is it not the norm for people in that "quiet" section of the crew rooms to be QUIET? I understand getting a call on the cell from Crew Sched. or the wifey, but WTF is with these obnoxious FA's and their BS stories? Neither myself nor the other 12 or so pilots could give a rat's ass about your flight into Boise and how the woman in 3A wouldn't sit still, or the time you left ATL with a plane full of noisy kids, etc. Have some respect, I say!

Maybe it's just me, but If I'm gonna be a loud ignorant buffoon, I'm gonna get up and do it away from the "Rest Area" in the crew room.

/End Rant

One thing I don's miss since being furloughed, is listening to the gossiping FAs. The drama is worse than a soap opera!

ASA Crew Room

Since we're on the topic of crew room etiquette, who's the fat ass that keeps breaking the recliners in the C Concourse Crew Room?

I seriously believe we have more broken ones now than working ones. :( Go on a diet for God's sake.

If you're IAH based there is another crew room that is much quieter on the other side of the terminal for those who like to sleep.

Why don't you stop being such a b itch on flightinfo and actually tell those FAs to "get the heck out of the crewroom, we're trying to sleep!!!"

MY KVETCH

Honey, you might have the TV remote, so yeah, you get to pick the channel. BUT WHY MUST YOU PICK SPANISH TELEVISION WHEN YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE IN A ROOM OF 30 peeps who speaks spanish?

Oh, turn up the volume too, please. Nothing like blaring, garish TV in a language you can't understand. Very relaxing.

(actually, I kind of enjoy spanish TV if the volume is all the way down . . . . mexicans love cleveage more than Americans, apparently)

While we're on the subject...why is it that Spanish TV always looks like a low budget porno film?

Because Spanish TV (just like porn) is filmed in the San Fernando Valley.
