To any CRJ-700 pilots out there: Can the arm rests on the seats in the cabin be raised?

My sister will be flying in the CR7 with her infant and will bring along a car seat for the baby. The seat width is 17 inches and the car seat is 19 inches wide. She'd rather not make the trip with a lap child (aka projectile).

Thanks in advance!

To my knowledge all of the RJ (ERJ and CRJ) seat handles can be raised. The only ones that may not or be "difficult" would be the bulkhead seats. I fly the 200 and they all come up and the bulkhead you have to push a button towards the underneath and back of the armrest to get it to lift. The bigger issue may be getting a car seat down th RJ's isle.. they are not the widest!

....

I think the seat has to be labled as being OK for airplanes. Some of the flight attendants will give you a hard time about this. I think there is some kind of a rule, but I'm not sure exactly what it is.

I have discovered that there are very few child seats anymore that aren't approved for use in aircraft. Check the sides of the seat...there's usually a label with a big block of legaleze, but it'll have a sentence in red ink stating whether or not it's okay on planes.

(If you'd told me ten years ago that I'd know this much about infant seats... )

Typhoon is right......see what 2 kids in 2 years does to you?? ;)

The red ink should state: Approved for use in motor vehicles and aircraft

And although there are very few these days that are not approved, there are some out there, so please check before bringing a car seat on board.

:D

Thanks for the info, guys. Fortunately, Delta/ASA's website is pretty clear about which car seats can be brought aboard. My sister will bring a printed copy of the web page "just in case." (Even though you and I know that gate agents ALWAYS know the current company policy) ; > )
