I'm looking at getting back into the regional game (was at ACA and my corporate gig has gone TU), and I had a couple questions for guys and gals at Chautaqua.

What domicliles/equipment are new hires going to?

Is CMH junior/senior?

How's morale and quality of life?

I'm just getting started at the whole job search thing, so any info would be appreciated. I live in CMH, so I'd really like to stay here, but a commute is better than unemployment, I guess. Thanks again.

You may get more professional responses at www.republicpilots.org/bulletinboard, as it is frequented by actual Chautauqua pilots, rather than the folks around here.

The RAH family is a bit of a double-edged sword. We have a lot of good people who work the line, and even some good-natured, if overworked, people in management. They run things razor-thin, though, so you can expect to have increasingly inefficient pairings and constantly have to fight with payroll to get paid correctly (this is possibly true everywhere).

Having just announced the CRJ platform, and based on your previous experience, it seems likely you could be hired in to that. Right now, the only base that we have for the CRJ is SDF. You don't get to pick. It has been rumored that we will open CMH as a CRJ base, along with IND (the usual CHQ tri-fecta), but there are no guarantees. You cannot transition from the CRJ to the EMB145 or EMB170 until you upgrade, so if they don't open CMH for the CRJ, then you'll never be able to hold it as an FO. Same goes for being hired in at Republic--they fly the 170 only and currently have bases in PIT, DCA, and IND. There are rumors that the expansion on that side will also take place in LGA or PHL, but nobody really knows.

Anyhow, good luck.

Thanks for the DF steer. I'll check out both links. I appreciate the low down, as I know nothing about Republic/Chautaqua. Keep it coming.

Not to take over his thread, but...

Hopefully these are questions that will also benefit the original posted as well so I won't be stealing this completly...

I heard a rumor (as all great FI threads start) that the 145s are on the board to be taken out of IND. How true is this? I fly out of IND right now and would really like to stay here for a good long time. I'm not 23, so if I were offered an interview, I would be interviewing for the 145. I understand aircraft transitions are only allowed an upgrade so if I could fly the 145, and they left IND, I would be out of luck for a few years.

Next question (brace yourself for a dumb question) lets say that the CRJ did start flying out of IND and the 145 did leave. I dont know that you have to be 23 to be hired into the crj, but i know no one else requires it. Lets say i can get an interview, job offer, etc. How bad would it look to say that I want to wait for a CRJ class if I'm offered a 145 class first. I know this borders on a high and mightier attitude or "gimme special treatment" but i thought i'd throw it out anyway.

Last question then i'm going to finish my crossword. I'm under contract at my current job until the end of jan. I would like to interview asap just to get my foot in the door, i have all the requirements posted on the website and then a bit except the age 23 thing. what i don't want to do is interview but hafta tell them i'm not available for 5 months, i dont know if this would be an issue that would lead to a 'thanks, but no thanks, we'll spend our time on sthe next guy who is available right now in 1 month', or if they would be cool with it and say 'ok, we'll call you for a class sometime after jan.' what is a good time frame to try for an interview if im not available until the end of jan?

This is just personal opinion, which i hope is correct as i am indy based as well.....I dont see the 145 flying leaving IND unless Delta leaves IND which we both know isnt going to happen....on the USair side....maybe as the 145's start to take CALEX paint and we start to take 175 deliveries, it might diminish...but as long as the 145 flying out of CVG stays strong....IND will remain a big 145 base IMHO....I hope so...lets keep our fingers crossed, its home for me too!

Not a good idea, if you are in the pool and you refuse a class date chances are you will be tossed out of the pool. The only exception is if they offer you a class starting in only a week and you don't have enough time to get there...

Joe doesn't.

so is that rumour true...did Joe go to RP or S5....or both?
and who is our new mentor on the 145?

Why go to a regional? I'm sure you have the time to meet CALs requirements...throw an app in a see what happens.

I'm still confused, RAH is still three different entinties?

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm going to ask anyway. Do the CHQ guys all wear the same uniform? How about the F/A's?
