(Forrest Gump Voice) I may not be a smart Man, but I know fully loaded 747's don't fly good on two engines, but must have been safe, I mean they had one whole extra engine to help.
 
The 747 flies very well on 3 engines(and even 2), but i dont agree with the decision the BA Captain or Flight crew made in that particular situation. However, climb performance at altitude is greatly diminished with even 3 engines operating.
