Anybody have a copy, or better yet, synopsis of the Alaska Vision 2010 Plan. Have a short notice - 2 days to get ready, interview and have heard its good gouge. Thanks.

synopsis of the Alaska Vision 2010 Plan.

1. Hope that the investment community continues to confuse the Kashtration with sound, forward-thinking management.

2. Talk about desire to reach a quick agreement on the pilot contract while doing everything possible to frustrate the process.

3. Remodel the house in Sun Valley.

yeah, I'd rather wait two months for an interview....then another four weeks to hear if I got the job...and then start class sometime in 08 after about 40 people have started ahead of me.

All Lies. You've heard it here first. We won't have more than 1550 pilots on this property by 2010...or 2015 for that matter.

OK, here is the skinny on the infamous 2010 plan. I kept it so that I could remember the lying leaders in charge of Alaska airlines.
with an unit cost of 7.25 cents per seat mile, the Alaska of tomorrow will:

operate 50-75 more a/c

grow asm's by 8-10% per year

operate 50-75 more a/c--106 a/c in 03, 114 in 2007 (you do the math)
grow asm's by 8-10% per year--4,708 million in 03, 5,694 in 07 (I'll give them that one)
fly profitably to any market in the nation (I guess no)
further dominate west coast, expand east coast--you make the call
produce pre tax profits of 10%, drive stock up--don't know, stock down YTD about 40%
consitently be named on of the best places in America to work--now that is funny.

Another fine product, this "Tunnel Vision 2010", created by ignorant yesmen. This created work bs is a fine example of justification for existance. Ah yes..... I've seen plenty of this crap on active duty where it is common practice to create "projects" so that some idiot can get promoted. I remember taking this piece of trash out of my mail box and throwing it right into the recycle bin.

Don't forget to mention that the 2010 plan was the brain child of one Mr. Kevin Finan. Oh yeh, the fallout from his 2010 plan is what got his A@s fired!

In this day and age, you never know. With a common fleet, east coast for one, and west coast for the other, you may see a third party (boeing) bring AirTran and Alaska together by 2010. Now...wouldn't that add a little pepper to the gumbo.

I can see it now, Airtran buys Alaska, and the pilots get "stapled" to the bottom, like those USAir guys at America West.

NO...don't see AirTran or Alaska purchasing either. However, could see a third party putting up the financing to bring both parties together as one, possibly Boeing. As far as America West and US Airways are concerned, neither purchased the other in that merger. AIRBUS and Air Canada put up the money to bring the two carriers together. Amercia West's management was left to manage the combined carrier and the headquarters was moved to Tempe, Arizona. Currently at AirTran if the Midwest merger goes through, there is discussion amongst the union for fair intergration, no staple, and I'd guess that would be the discussion if there were some merger between AirTran and Alaska.

Going2Baja, I didn't work for Valuejet and neither did 95% of the current pilot group at AirTran. I guess you'd be bringing stickers for yourself. Get over it will you. Value-Jet doesn't exist any longer!

Actually IH8... I thought that a long time ago as well.. But AAI is forecasting to make somewhere between 60-80 million this year and is doing very well right now.. ie, this minute..haha its the airlines, tomorrow is another day..... But, if the MEH thing goes through and AAI continues to grow, a merger with Alaska wouldn't be completly out of the question. AAI may very well be able to buy Alaska in a couple years.. Right now, no, but in the near future, its a possibility..... As far as a merger goes, I know the Alaska guys don't want to think about it, but it would make very good sense.... Imagine a company with hub in almost every corner of the U.S., and a decent hub in the midwest.. No other carrier could match that, not even SWA.. AAI and Alaska would have around 400 airplanes and the best route map in the U.S. covering most of North America..... Hey, it could happen........ And make no mistake about it, AirTran is not Valuejet.... Many people have underestimated AAI and it has bitten them in the @ss...... Now, back to the 2010 plan, er... Lack of a 2010 plan...
