synopsis of the Alaska Vision 2010 Plan.
you may see a third party (boeing) bring AirTran and Alaska together by 2010..
In this day and age, you never know. With a common fleet, east coast for one, and west coast for the other, you may see a third party (boeing) bring AirTran and Alaska together by 2010. Now...wouldn't that add a little pepper to the gumbo.
NO...don't see AirTran or Alaska purchasing either. However, could see a third party putting up the financing to bring both parties together as one, possibly Boeing. As far as America West and US Airways are concerned, neither purchased the other in that merger. AIRBUS and Air Canada put up the money to bring the two carriers together. Amercia West's management was left to manage the combined carrier and the headquarters was moved to Tempe, Arizona. Currently at AirTran if the Midwest merger goes through, there is discussion amongst the union for fair intergration, no staple, and I'd guess that would be the discussion if there were some merger between AirTran and Alaska.I can see it now, Airtran buys Alaska, and the pilots get "stapled" to the bottom, like those USAir guys at America West.
