Real nice. That sounds familiar though. I hope the Burbank accident wasn't another one of these father/son combinations where the father didn't "speak up" because he didn't want to hear about it for "the rest of his life" while the son "was pulling the nose down at 500 mph aiming for the runway."

Considering the source - I say the author made that up to sensationalize his little affirmative action story of "the industry dominated by middle aged white males."

I have met her father- he has more class than most of us could ever hope for. He is real Gentleman!

While I have only been able to say hello to Nicole in passing, she has an excellent reputation and is liked by everyone who knows her. She is a fine example of Southwest Spirit and we are glad to have her here.

I hope she never sees the childish crap that was posted earlier!

Most of the "childish crap" was to nit pick the inacuracies (read "drama") of the article & not to question their class or reputation. I, for one, believe in Southwest's hiring / selection process as I've yet once to meet a Southwest pilot undeserving of his/her accomplishments.

I am a little sensitive when some one bashes the appearance of someone as was done by a few folks on here. I realize so many are going through hard times right now and I understand when someone is bitter towards the industry. It was just the personal attacks toward her by a select few earlier that were uncalled for.

Having walked the halls of the headquarters buildings at SWA many times I can tell you that this is a no bullsh!t company. I have absolutely no doubt that they hire only worthy people regardless of what that person's job title will be.

I don't know this young woman and can not speak positively or negatively about her qualifications. My sarcasm was directed only at the idea that SWA (or any other company) is totally blind to race, gender, and nepotism.

WTF??? They have to hire minorities and her daddy happens to be a captain for SWA. There you have it, a shoe in, two birds with one stone if you will. Was her race a factor? I am pretty sure it was, or we wouldn't have to check those f--king boxes that ask if one is black, white or whatever else!

This isn't the Jim Crowe era anymore, women and minorities aren't turned away from the airports in droves. If they want to fly, get loans and start busting their a$$es, just like the rest of us have.

I am not sorry about the past. I had nothing to do with it! My ancesters had nothing to do with it.

This country will never have true equality so long as we have to check boxes and classify ourselves.

Congrats to that gal and her dad for whatever reason. "Nix" to the press for using an upbeat article about aviation success to again push the race issue.

As the guy who posted the 'horse' comment, I'd say calling someone 'not cute' (what I did, in jest, did you see the ?) is far from a personal attack. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

As far as race gender not being a factor, does anyone at WN care to name the # of pilots who got on at WN in the last 2 years at 24 years old other than Nicole? And I'm sure she's a quality pilot who is quite professional, BTW.
