Just curious how long to upgrade to 737 CA. How does the age 65 thing play into that. How long till one can hold 737 CA position in IAH. One more thing, how long to get widebody fo in IAH if you didn't want a CA position.

Thanks!

Here is what I think (seriously):

Both positions are almost the same. With the 787 coming and our impending IRO issues, deadhead, and even the age 65 issue I think you could take your pick--they are about the same!

My guess: 7.5-8.5 yrs.

Currently, 9 years; I held it on the bid that closed a few months ago right around my 9 year mark, currently going through upgrade class. EWR CA seat is a bit shorter than that, there's a guy (32 yrs old) in my class who hired on early 2001, then spent a couple of years out on furlough. EWR CA upgrades seem to be going surprisingly junior these days.

Also remember that the difference between a 99 hire and a 05 hire is more longevity than seniority numbers.....I think that 9 years seniority is getting 756 CA awards as of last system bid....

I'm a Sep'05 hire...heres my seniority in relation to those seats

IAH 737CA ---> 900+ senior to me
IAH 777FO ---> 1000+
EWR 737 CA --> 300+

For what its worth, I have been hearing 2 yr upgrades on 737EWR. Of course, this could change on a whim( mergers, Age 65, etc..)
