Just curious about their hiring ... have they called all furloghed pilots back yet? any roll back from the mainline to the express or would they hire off the street?

read through this forum, there's plenty written already about xjet.

but, yes, all furloughs have been recalled, and hiring off the street has started. check out their website, as the initial process is all online.

I have friends at COEX and they seem to be pretty optimistic about the future, after they get their next contract that is. I would tell any pilot looking at the regionals to try COEX first. The only downside I can see is the lack of "friendly" bases to live at. There are other regionals that have nicer domiciles, but I think COEX has the best route structure and the best variety of flying. They only have ERJs, and maybe they will get 70 seaters someday is CAL approves. Good luck.

Bye Bye--General Lee;)

Make sure you hold onto the paragraph they tell you do print out(online application). If you can't read it to them over the phone, the interview is a no go. Why on earth they do this is beyone me. I guess they are testing your airline captain voice, or maybe to see if you can read english? Also make sure you check no if it is acceptable if you have to throw bags, and not being paid during training.

When is the new contract due to come out and when is it to go into effect? Also what are some of the issues the new contract addresses ie: pay during training, pay itself, ect.

the new contract addresses all the issues.. pay, training, scheduling, scope, retirement, etc. not going to put out specifics here yet, though. negotiations are ongoing, and almost all the sections have been closed. anybody's guess when we'll see a TA. sooner rather than later, though, from what i'm hearing. probably see one by mid to late spring. then of course, the real games will start.. the new contract, after ratified, will be in effect immediately. that can be as early as spring, or never. xjet pilots seem to be pretty together on this contract, so if the first ta sucks, you can bet it will be much later than spring/summer before a new one comes into play.

Actually, I printed the quote out, but left mine at home the day that they called. When she asked me to read it, I told her that I left it at home, and she just said pick up something next to me and read that instead.

After doing this she said that I had passed that stage of the interview. I also asked how I did & she said I did fine. I also did not get a letter saying thanks but no thanks like some others did.

What happens if you check yes to this.

By the way, do they pay during training?

For those of you who are interested, there's another perm bid out. 60 more captain seats and 60 more fo seats. With the double bidded seats it'll be more like 80 positions per seats.

What is the website address, anyone?

What are their domiciles?

Do they pay for training?

Thanks.

Can anyone confirm hiring minimums? I heard 1000TT 100ME

The current minimums are 1500/500. Hopefully they will relax those sometime soon but who knows.

I hope not. The going rate for us Regional pilots flying this equipment is not much more then what I make now. I hope CAL retains the right to fly this equipment, their pay may not be what you DAL pilots have but it is better then what we will get under the MGT. whipsaw.

JMT
Those times vary quite a bit. When I got hired here it was 9 months to hold emb-120 capt, 1 year for atr capt and 1.5 years for emb-135/145 capt. Now I'm a 4th year FO on reserve. Right now I would guess the upgrade would be anywhere from 4-6 years. As you can see, those estimations can change a lot over a few years.

The only captain minimums we have are the ones set by the FAA, there are no company minimums.

Coex, have you been with the company 4 years or 3 years? A lot of guys take their longevity and say that is the time they've been at the company. I also ask becouse I know of a few "99" hires who are captains. The most junior person to hold captain is 9/13/99 in Newark. The most junior is a Newark based captain 8/16/99 4years, 5months.

3 years 4 months. So I'm on 4th year pay. I highly doubt that I'll upgrade within the next 8 months (that's how I came up with 4-6 years for upgrade).

I'v ebeen told by a person in HR for COEX mins will be 1800/500. Quite high if you ask me. Although this isn't etched in stone. I say click "no" to throwing bags and not being paid during training cause for one I dont want to throw bags nor did I get my certificates to throw bags. Also I say click "no" to not be paid for training because 3 months is a long time not to have an income.

1500 and 500 are the minimums. 1800/500 is fine too but you're above minimums.

I think it will be closer to the 4 years that "coex" stated above being that we are expanding and the Continental pilots are going back which will leave many many Captain positions open. So someone who gets hired this year will probably take closer to 4 years. Now if we get the Enhanced Flowthrough Agreement, upgrade time will be much quicker. Right now only the CAL flowbacks are going back (somewhere around 350 or so) and another 118 Express pilots will be going to CAL right afterward. CAL will see a massive peak in retirements in a few years retireing over 60% of their seniority list over the next 10 years. If we get an enhanced FTA, Express pilots will be leaving the top of the Express list at a very very rapid rate, everyones seniority number will decrease monthly and we very well could go back to the days of the 2 year upgrades.
Lets hope we get it, I want to move up and you want to get in and upgrade.....my seat is yours!

What would the enhanced flowthrough agreement do? I know the old flow through brought one coex guy to CAL for three pilots off the street, or something like that. How would this one be different? Thanks

Thanks for all the replies ... I went to their web site and had the 5 mins. phone interview ...

What is the ethnic diversity of flight crew at Express Jet ... I spoke with a couple of recruiters and they sounded Latino. It seems like a multi national company :)

Diversity is actually pretty flat, except for fa's. We have a pretty good group though, everyones welcome.

Commuting

How difficult would it be to commute to either EWR or CLE? Do they have any commuter clause/policy in the current contract? If not, is it likely to be addressed in the next one? Thanks.

hangar7guy
That all depends on where you are trying to commute from. Some cities have several flights per day and others only have a few. Right now we do not have an official commuter clause that I'm aware of, but they are supposedly working on a new one for the contract.
