Hi, Everyone-

I just finished IOE at Avantair and I feel like I would be doing a disservice to all of my brothers/sisters at the regionals if I didn't give you a heads-up.

First, we're treated like human beings, essential to the success of the company. We stay at top-level hotels, have courteous "Pilot Services" staffing (not Screw Scheduling staffing), and a generous pay scale (35K+ $2/hr per diem for first year F/O's) all it all adds up to a very happy work environment.

Secondly, we have an awesome benefits package. Also, there's growth and job security. We expect 104 Avanti II's on the certificate when they're all delivered! Add a dozen Phenom 100's, and, well...

I realize that I might be in the honeymoon phase of my career at Avantair, but I wouldn't be telling you this if I didn't genuinely believe that this is a great alternative to the grind at the regonals.

I did my time, just as you're all doing now. You deserve to know about the exploding fractional industry. Peace and success to all...

The honeymoon will wear off fast.14 hr days, SIC in a single pilot airplane that does not require a type.Lowest pay in the frac market.Have a blast.7&7 my A$$.

I'm surprised that it took so long for the $hit-slingers to chime in! Happy to see that the thread didn't let me down.

Yes, it is 7-on/7-off. There is no "forced overtime", although there is plenty to go around if you want it. Great daily rates, + per diem... worked two days of O.T. straight out of IOE. Yes, by choice...

14 hour days... They're there, but what's so bad about flying a bad-a$$ little hot rod all day long?

Owners suspect?!?! Huh?!?! Come on now... we're a Nasdaq listed company! AAIR...

Yea, who cares if you're being worked to death for crappy pay, as long as you have a shiny cool airplane to fly, huh? Have you taken cool pictures next to the plane and put them on your myspace page?

There is plenty of forced overtime..also plenty of pressure to fly broken planes..put down the kool-aid and wake up.Go to netjets and make twice as much..

They would probably give you a call within a couple of weeks with your experience.

I wouldn't call Avantair a "skip the regionals"... it's someplace to go after you've gained some experience at the regionals and decided that you'd like to be treated well for a change.

NetJets is the surely the big gun of the fractional industry, no doubt. We've only been around for a few years, but we're growing.

netjets is not a "skip the regionals" option, avantair is

What? Flying for a regional airline will be to one's advantage when applying to NetJets? Or are you saying NetJets is a better long-term career move, more so than Avantair?

Congrats on the job AftCG. That Piaggio is little hot rod. Especially when compared to a King Air.

Enron was listed also. Not comparing the two but that logic is pretty dumb. (unless you were being sarcastic, then I am the dumb one)

I was trying to make the point that as a publicly traded company, we're all owners. (Those of us who own stock, that is). I guess that it sounded better in my head. Maybe it was a dumb point. It was also getting pretty late!

Enron was public

Rather than have a pissing match with this guy, go do some investigating on the frac board and form your own opinion. I seem to remember a thread about NetJets on this forum as well where the author got flamed as well....

Now that I've been sufficeintly flamed, I'm going to stop adding to this thread. All I wanted to do was make sure that the folks at the regionals were aware of a great alternative in the fractional industry. I would never criticize anyone elses choice of employment, I'm just highlighting my choice.

In closing, here's a great link for a snapshot of Avantair. The F/O payscale hasn't been brought up to date yet, but everything else is pretty much on target. Keep the blue side up!

Some people on here love the contstant abuse of their regional job, and dont take kindly to somebody having better QOL on the outside.

Because a 16 hour day with min rest is sooooo much better. For the record, Alpha Flying has the lowest starting pay in frac world (27K to start) in the PC-12. Two pilots ARE required. Check out 91(K).

What do you mean '7&7 my A$$'? That just speaks of ignorance or you are working with old information. Things actually get BETTER over time in this part of the industry. Amazing what happens when we don't undercut each other constantly.

I know that I said I wasn't going to contribute to this thread any more, but someone just ripped on my choice of employer. That's a bit over the line. Do you speak from first-hand experience that Avantair is a crappy place to work, or are you just blowing smoke out of your a$$? Because in my short time at Avantair, I can tell you FIRST HAND that it's a great place to work.
