How much military turbine time is considered competitive for an interview with Fedex? Getting out in six months.

How about competitive civilian time with one recommendation????

Available to work yesterday :)

IMHO, everyone is competitive IF you meet the minimum flight time qual's. Meaning...if you have at least 1000 Turbine PIC time AND a 4 yr degree you are competitive.

Now...what seperates all the candidates (read: gets your application/resume closer to the top) is who you have on the inside going to an ACP or SPC and vouching for you personally. Preferably another pilot that you have previously flown with. IT'S NOT THE ONLY WAY TO GET HIRED JUST THE BEST CHANCE to get an interview.

I did look at the new hires from Sept and the ratio was about 75/25 favoring military to civilian.

repost from another thread:

Competitive mins for mil heavy guy? I guess it all depends on the rest in the stack, which is basically your question. I was hired in the 2000-2500 hr. range and I think that would still be a good range to be in today.

For military guys in general:

There is no other hours requirement other than what is posted on the website as the mins. I think if you have about what everyone else has for your airframe and years of service, that makes you very competitive. On the flip side, if you were banked, were out on medical, and had a non-flying desk job for awhile, your hours are probably low.

The best way to figure out if you are competitive is look at the other guys in your organization. For an Air Force guy getting out after 9 or 11 years, you should have aquired a fair amount of flight time. Keep in mind that tactical assets will fly less hours than strategic assets.

I hope I kind of answered your question. If you have been flying most of your mil career, you are competitive!
