Obviously, your experience does not include much time in multi-engine aircraft, except for the brief stint in a pa44. Interestingly, Dodgen Aircraft uses PA-34-200. www.dodgenaircraft.com

If you are worried about noise, high speed aircraft, what do you do when 35D has it's annual fly in? Go hide someplace else?? What about all the warbirds that they invite?? Aren't you worried that they will have an engine failure and fall on you??

No, they didn't see what you did, and I'm not certain you saw what you claim. In the video there was always adequate seperation. The trail aircraft maintained, for the most part, a position that was below the other aircraft. The flight down the runway was made with the lead aircraft to the left side of the runway, and the trail aircraft on the right side of the runway. Since 35D is a 75 foot wide runway, that means that at least 75 feet seperation.

At no time, during the flight was either aircraft 1/2 wingspan from the other.

You sir, need glasses.

Last year we flew more than 60 hours in formation. Mostly 2 aircraft, sometimes 4. We always do it safely, we always brief on the ground in advance, and since you were listening on the radio, we always maintain communication. We also have a plan in the event of communicaction failure.

Well I dont really know what you are all so worked up about....I said it was a foolish / dangerous thing to do in two HP aircraft and it was simply my choice to report it to the FAA. Realize nothing will probably come of this but it is on record. Just keep pushing I will get my neighbors to mail complaints too, NOBODY in town like all the noise. It will always be a bigger fight on your end than mine. I also dont understand what all this talk about resume and name business is. I already work for a fractional and dont understand how either of you could possibly be in a position to keep me from getting another job.... And names are not allowed on flightinfo.com its in the rules section, but then again renagades like you dont really need rules now do you? (i removed the street becasue of that) And if you would like to come visit me, PM me and we will work out a day since I am often gone. A Lesson in Perception

We were on 8 mile final for a low approach, and heard a guy say "Cessna xxx is 6 miles out". Our lead informed him that a flight of 3 was 8 miles out. A couple moments later the Cessna says he is 6 miles out, and he's left base for the runway we are descending to. Lead again informs him that we are flight of 3. No 3 says "We are a group in formation, can you hold off". Next call is the Cessna xxx is 4 miles left base. No 2, me says "Listen you are 4 miles, and we are 5, and we are doing 180, can you hold off for a moment." He finally determines that we are cooking along, and very graciously says he'll circle south of the airport. I also think that he had no idea what a flight of 3 meant.

But it made me think. To often, we assume that the other aircraft in the air perform just like the one we are in. Especially when we are unfamiliar with the other aircraft. I'll bet there are thousands of poeple out flying in 150's, and 172's that don't have a clue what a Chancelor is, or a Golden Eagle. And for all those people, the fact that a Chancelor is 2 miles farther out than they are just doesn't register as a potential conflict.

I've been in a controlled airfield enviroment, told to follow a training school 172. I had to break off, and go around, because I was losing separation on the aircraft ahead.

The Cessna xxx was a Cessna 150. After he landed, we all thanked him for holding off. And then we showed him some of the video we had shot.

Really nice guy.

Okay, so that's my lesson for today. Just because someone is ahead or behind you, doesn't mean that all parties should continue as if we were all the same, because we are not.

This is just an Idea, I do not have a lot of money to make this, so for now it would just be for the exposure and glory. For all of us.
