If a gate agent said it, it HAS to be true. :P

I would imagine a lot of paperwork to add a new airplane to the certificate. Enough paperwork to make Sep 1 unrealistic.

if it was true, wouldnt they had to have started training already for their pilots? thats less than 2 months.

also, any MSP guys here? have you seen the 2 avros, with the logo on the tail painted over at the FBO south of the 30s?

I'll bet they're being repainted for Compass...

I've seen them, I believe they are two of the ones going to DUB.

I was in Calgary a few days ago and saw many AVROs at the MX place up there. Most were painted white aside from the few 146's still painted in United colors from Air Willy.

heard from a gate agent in IAD that compass is starting service september 1st with an AVRO. Any truth to that?

Considering that the last IAD gate agent I worked with thought she was boarding a DC-9 (yes, she had been out to the plane to help tidy up) I wouldn't put to much stock in that statement.

Well at least if they are Avro's the I think the pilots will have to come from XJ.Its in the TA somewhere.

Who's TA? the one mainline signed a couple months ago? Why would they care about XJ pilots? Especially the Avro guys. I have heard they (NW) were always a bit bitter that XJ was flying around more than 50 seats...

Yes mainline .I can't remember the scenarios but it does talk some place about Avro jobs at XJ and some type of transfer to SJ flying. And I'm to lazy and tired from rafting today to go look.Plus I'm sure normal ALPA merger and equipment stuff would come into play anyway. Not to mention where else would you find an Avro rated crew.

Those have been there for a long time

Check on flightaware dot com several of the Avros have already departed across the pond. Just search tail numbers between 511xj and 520xj. Not all have gone but several in that range show up to their fuel stop in Canada then Iceland
