I believe that I predicted that XJ would yield to a new airlink awhile back. Why pay a 15 year captain, 9 year FO, and a 10 year FA when you can have all three at year numero uno?

YPF is a self-centered idiot and always will be. For everyone else, Dodge is right. Yes Compass is "in house" but the NUMBER 1 problem is that it strips away all the years of service in pay for the people that these "Avros" were being flown by. Rather its flown by red tail 9E, NWA, or Mesaba, its with basically new hires at new pay. Taking away all the hard years that were earned by the "red-tailers" who flew these sized ac.
Industry average doesn't mean sh1t to a pilot, YPF, when you trun 6-15 year pay into 1-2 year pay.

Rossa,

Why don't you just ask ALPA what you should do. Don't give your name. Just don't go do anything stupid. If you need some perspective, think about goatjets. If they are the xj replacement, run.

Rossa,

I don't deny you were called, or what was said. I just don't believe their offer was legit, they simply asked would you "consider" it. I think they are just trying to scare us into believing this Bullsh*t. I think they do this crap just to mess with our heads. According to Fed, done deal for 36 705's (avro replacement) and Q400's coming our way, so the newest rumor has it. Good luck with Compass if thats what you choose, hopefully you won't have to decide and you and everyone else on furlough get's a recall for good reason.

Our "leaders" are capable of this. Don't pass this off as a scare tatic. If they find a way around that scope letter they will do it without a second thought. These people have turned us into a mini NWA. It makes me sick to see what they have done to such a good group of people. They will never know what they had.
Compass is a MES and NWA battle. This will not help the current NWA pilots. Compass only make ALPA feel better because they think it helps the furloughed pilots. Really only a small percentage of them will benifit from Compass. In five years I doubt there will be any fuloughed pilots on that seniority list.

Compass will only be used as a scare tatic in the coming weeks. These people were contacted in a very public way, to only ask if they might be interested. XJ needed this propaganda to get out because thier next step is to call the union with a urgent need to meet. Then they will offer XJ this flying only if they bend over far enough. Uncle Carl's cash cow is alive and well, and he is not done making money off of XJ. Remember Uncle Carl always gets what he wants.

I also combines well with MAIR's public refusal to provide DIP financing to their only profitable airline. "Let's up the pressure since the union doesn't seem to be playing along." And the scumy tactics continue.

I hope you're right on this one. But I still think it depends on how the NWA pilots vote. If the TA passes, Compass might actually happen.

My prediction: NW pilots will vote in favor of the TA, Compass will happen, and Mesaba will get 70 seaters after they negotiate a piss-pore contract with management. I'll say it again and again: the senior pilots at XJ will never jepordize putting Mesaba in a position to "go under." If that means taking HUGE concessions, so be it. Sad but true. No one wants to. But if it means closing the doors, a person will do almost anything to keep seniority. Even if it means taking a 20% pay cut.

What is the difference?

Is is better because Northwest guys have super senioirity and you can't upgrade until everyone else who wants to, has? I'm not sure why Freedom went from public enemy #1 to an ALPA approved alter ego. I'm not sure why NWA 70, suddenly has ALPA's approval as Compass.

Alter ego is bad - period. ALPA fought so hard to eliminate B Scales, only to allow alter ego airlines competing within the brand, which is a million times worse.

NORTHWHIP AIRLNES, the latest product in the line from the fine folks who brought you Jets4Jobs and BrandScope. Clarence Sayen must be spinning in his grave at near-gyro speeds right about now.

Five ha, try 2 years.

On SEVEN's prediction that senior pilots will take hugh cuts (20%) I agree.
This threat of losing what they consider their flying to another pilot list is what is going to make them cave in. My point is that xj pilots need not give in at all. These airplanes are coming to XJ. Management (Uncle Carl) will not risk a work stopage, They will extract as much as a cut as they can in the next two weeks with our union. When this is all done NW will have reached it's goal of transfering as much of the DC9 flying to XJ as they could get away with.

I really don't think as many senior guys as you think will take 20% pay cuts. Almost every high seniority person 15 years and below that I have talked with would strike before giving 20%. If this is the end, lets go out with our heads high. Don't compare us to the NWA senior pilots. They have a pensions to lose. If this is really happening. There may be no choice but to strike and tie up our routes.
What do you consider senior? There is not many people over 15 years here.

I think anyone over 10 years at a regional is senior. I just can't see those MSP XJ guys giving all that up. The majority of them have a "way of life" that they enjoy (wife, kids, land to hunt on, cooking steaks on the grill on the weekend). They will take 20% over starting from scratch somewhere else at 1 year pay as an F.O.
