I am trying to get an Idea which companies (if any) offer benefits to their employees which are recalled to Active Duty, beyond the requirements of USERRA.

Issues of Interest are:
1. Salary continuation or differential pay.
2. Continued Medical benefits for employee or family.
3. continued Non rev passes.

Basically anything beyond the minimum.

With the continued strain on the Military reserves many companies are stepping up to ease the burden. Even the evil walmart offers salary differential and continued medical for the family.

I am collecting this data to use as a comparative for a project that I am working.
Thanks for your help,
CAS

I have data from several non airline companies. What I need is feedback from some folks at some of the other carriers.

Well, I have been mobilized and fly for a regional airline. Off the top of my head:

1. My company's pay was a third of what I get paid by the military so there was no need for them to make up the difference. It was a huge pay raise to go back to the military. I don't think they would have made up the difference if there was a disparity.

2. They allowed my to keep my medical/dental benefits but I chose to use the Navy's for my wife since I didn't need to be covered while I was in.

3. I still had pass privileges while I was mobilized for 6 months.

I think a lot of stuff timed out after a year so it didn't affect me. You did not get to accrue vacation after 3 months so when you get back you had to work for a while, maybe for up to a year before you get vacation again. Seniority was maintained for at least 5 years but longevity stopped after a year gone, I believe.

Thanks, That is exactly the data I am looking for. Most seem to either break even or make more $$ when active. So far it looks like the MX/Operation guys are the ones coming out short. (Enlisted Pay vs. Airline).

FWIW, When I was deployed I took about a 40% pay cut. Kept my pass Privledges and Accrued vacation annually. Insurance was kept in effect for 1 yr. (copay was debted when I returned)

Military recall was about a 25k pay raise from 5 year AA FO for me. They offered medical continuation at a cost (can't remember what it was), but considering that military medical is free, I didn't give it too much thought. Non revenue benefits were continued; however, access to the jump seat is not.

The five year limitation on reemployment rights does not apply to call ups during time of war or national emergency.
