Ok, Just curious. How many of you have PIC posititions and do not have a company credit card? My new company has one card in the aircraft for trip expenses but we have to spend our own money on everything else and eventually get re-embursed. Any other opporators like this?
From what I have seen and in my case also, company cards are issued to pilots and techs. If you have to take care of your own expenses like you describe, try and get a card that gives you something in return (Marriott, AmEx, etc). At least you can accumulate points for vacations or a new HDTV!! You can get a ton of points on from your day to day expenses
We have fuel cards for every airplane, but hotels/meals/misc expenses are paid by the employee and expensed. While I wish I had a company AmEx card or something to cover this, I prefer the expense method vs. the airline per diem system because I enjoy picking my own hotels and eating where I want to eat.
My company has the Capt. pay all crew expenses and expense report it. Fuel and aircraft expenses are on the Avcard.
Personally, I opened a second checking account at the credit union (free) and put a couple grand in it. I use the debit card from this account for all my expenses on the road. It keeps those expenses separate from my personal stuff. It seems to work out pretty well. I don't get any hotel or mileage points, but there is 0 chance of racking up credit card debt/interest.
It seems like company credit cards are out of fashion in the accounting department....
I have seen it both ways, often a company will have you do it on your card because someone before you abused the trust of a company provided Visa or Am-ex. I like company cards better though, If the company can afford a plane, I should not have to loan them money.
Seems like companies used to front you a few grand for expenses too....
seems like thems days are over too....
AND if it is a company credit card, you can almost be ASSURED that it is not eligible for any points programs. They save a few bucks this way and roll it into the big bosses 25 mil bonuses.
We use our own credit cards for Meals/Hotels/Rental Cars/Etc... and then expense it... I perfer this over the company credit card method as this way I get all the points or miles and such...
For fuel and aircraft expenses we have a whole variety of credit cards on the aircraft.
Hey Gulfstream 200, why did you abandon me with Tool Webb on that other thread!???
This doesn't really make much sense, but my company got me a corporate Visa card with my name on it when I started. The statement comes through the office manager, but I submit expense reports and pay the Visa out of my checking. I'll submit my reports weekly and usually get the check in a few days. If my expense checks are late and don't cover the card bill, I am supposed to pay what I've been reimbursed. This way the company is not borrowing money from the employees.
Lately I've been just charging expenses to my personal card, racking up the points. The airplane expenses go on a separate company card.
Anything more on my end whould have just been repitition. You shut him down, he took his ball and WENT HOME.
I just hate it when airline pukes pick a fight on the corp board....maybe they will just stick to the regional board where they can impress CFI's and B1900 F/O's....
I think he has always had something against me anyhow, not sure why.
Either way - everyone seems happy with thier chosen path and thats all that matters, right?
You see, Im trying to be NICE these days...my wife says I need some sensitivity training. (??)
Plus, any guy from Alabama who makes fun of Jersey...well....what's the point of argueing with that?
Be careful if the company issues you an AMX CC with their name on it & your name on the bottom. If they go TU & AMX can't collect from them they will come after YOU--I've seen it happen.
