Commuting out of Uniform?

I have to jumpseat from PHL back home tomorrow. I do not have a uniform with me since I was visiting family and before 8/10 it did not matter. Anyone have any experience with the PHL TSA? Will I need to go to the counter to get a gate pass?

i commuted out of phx the first day of this mess. had seen it on the news so left all the liquids and gels etc at home. i was in regular clothes. was jumpseating on an airline other than my own. didn't need a pass to get thru, just used the id. they didn't examine my bag at all. a friend of mine was commuting on the same flight, also in regular clothes. he had some toothpaste, shampoo, etc that he threw out before going thru security. however, once we were in the plane we both noticed we still each had a couple things of 'forbidden' substances (lotion, eyedrops, lip gloss)!

Obviously, the reality is that the stuff sold on the secure side of the terminal is safe, but if that's the case, and everything "unsafe" was caught at screening, why ban liquids on flights? Because something might slip through? If something slips through, how is anyone supposed to be able to distinguish it from the "safe" stuff sold in the terminal?

I think this is exacty why the rule is written the way it is. The message to flight crews is very clear. If a pax has any 'banned substance', and it wasn't served to them on the aircraft, it has to be removed. Personally, I think this is a good thing.

Sure, it's a PITA, especially not being able to bring the Mochas on board anymore. But it eliminates the whole "no no, I bought this in the secure area" argument; just get rid of it!

They ban Gatorade, hair gel and Head & Shoulders because of what can be sneaked in "inside" the bottle. Stuff sold "inside" security has allready been screened.

Exactly. Then why the hell can't stuff bought inside security be brought on planes? Idiots!
