Any one out there commute from Portland, OR and fly for SWA? Just curious about how "doable" it is...I know there are a bunch of flights daily from PDX to OAK. How about CA and taxes...I've heard rumours that the state of CA taxes your pay just for having a crashpad there. Any truth to it? Thanks for any info - feel free to PM me.

I commute from SEA and have a crash pad in OAK for over 5 years. Never heard about being taxed. You will have to pay CA disablity which is a percentage of pay up to the current limit of $512.24

If you are based in CA they will try & tax you. You or your company will have to show that over 50% of your flying is done outside of CA for there to be no tax. Of course if over 50% of your flying is done inside CA then you will have to pay them a tax. Of course this is the case for the other 49 states, but only CA tries to collect.

Easy

I've j/s SW a few times between PDX and OAK/SMF on my way to and from SAN. I think each time I had a row to myself with 20-30 open seats, sometimes more. Like you said there are a quite a few flights to choose from, should be no problem.
