Will Commutair be hiring off the street soon? And if so when? I recently received a prescreen call and was curious to any time frame on possible interviews/ hiring.

Aren't furloughed Continental Express pilots flying at Commutair under some sort of "props for jobs" type deal? I heard that this was a stipulation in order for Commutair to fly into Continental's hubs. Is that true?

True. I'm not sure how many of our folks are going to go there, but I suspect more given the recent news at CAL. Who knows.

I also recently got a prescreen call. Does anybody know how many they are supposed to hire and also how come they are expanding like this? Are they getting more airplanes? Thanks

Commutair has started service into the Continental hub in Cleveland. It will be growing by 13 airplanes with the Cleveland operation up at full-strength by August. Based on our current staffing numbers, it should work out to 90 additional pilots. About half of that number will be furloughed Continental Express pilots. All that are going to be coming over are either already here or wil be starting in the April 14th class. Our small pool was drained into the April 14th class. So it looks like May will be all off-the-street. Depending on how quickly COEX guys move back to COEX, we may be hiring for quite a while. If they do not move back any time soon, we will probably be fully staffed by August.

CommutAir Hiring Pool

Does anyone have an idea as to how many pilots are currently in the CommutAir hiring pool? I got the letter last month to await scheduling of the cog computer test. They couldn't tell me when I would be returning to NY for that. I was hoping that by January I (we) would all have a class date. Now that we are approaching mid-November and the holiday season, I can't imagine too much activity going on in the next few months.

The company announced today a new-hire class of 8 starting December 1st. That's smaller than our typical 12 for a new-hire class, which tells me there probably won't be much hiring activity for a little while. Hope I'm wrong, but today's announcement is the only info I've heard in recent months.

Hey... Did anybody in the pool here anything about the December class? Perhaps, we will get the long awaited phone call tomorrow? Oh.. I can't wait!
