The NTSB report suggest the GS indications were unrelaible due in part to improper bonding between the static strips on the radome and the airframe. On the 1900 the GS antenna is inside the radome.

We digress however. There is a big difference between trying to fly an approach into KSLK in IMC under normal operations, and trying to get the airplane on the ground in KCMH quickly during an emergency with a violent passenger trying to get into the cockpit. This crew did a great job, and anyone who has flown the mighty Beech and know how vulnerable the crew is to unruly passengers would not criticize them getting down ASAP.

I'd just like to say I never wanted to or wanted anyone else to criticize the crew. I was simply being impressed with their performance. Great job!

NEDude is 100% correct. This is an apple and oranges debate. This most recent crew did what needed to be done. In my 8700 hrs in the Beech I was surprised by many a Pax sticking their head up between the seats to ask a stupid question ( usually "Where is the bathroom?). I often thought how easy it would be for a psycho to hurt one or both of us while we were strapped into our seats. In regards to the CommutAir accident, some of us were around at the time and I belive that there were many factors that contributed to that accident, both equipment and crew, but none of them had anything to do with with snow build up around the ground based ILS antenna. I was in the hangar with the NAVY guys who did the static discharge testing, I worked on the airplanes and spoke to the NTSB and FAA and drove to SLK from the Burg on the day of the crash and never once heard anyone talk about snow build up.

SJ

Another incident where a pax messes with a crew inflight. This guy will sit in jail for 2 months, get his court date, then be sentenced as time served. He will be buying a plane ticket three days after he gets out of jail, to take his ride home to Nevada.
They either need to lock this guy up for a long time, or cripple the mother f*cker.
F*cking Liberal pansies want to give everyone a second chance

Where's Mr. Collins when you need him?

GAWD- I can 'read' it now...
Regarding the safety record of the Beech 1900, in comparison to the T210 is shows a remarkable safety record as an airframe. But factor in lives, clearly the T210 is a superior airframe requiring exponentially higher crosswind inputs on landing, especially after flying "in the soup" for days behind a warm front somewhere over Barcelona into HGR.

Leighton was a genius, Dick is just that sometimes.
