If you think one of us is a nutcase, be a man and say it directly to our face.
You haven't been reading have you? I have stated over and over, publicly and privately, that I respect TB and others like him for their willingness to debate passionately and not get personal.

Unless you've been driving Boeings into buildings, blowing yourself up in Israeli marketplaces, killing abortion doctors, etc. you are most likely NOT one of the people I'm speaking about.

Read the WHOLE post ... I disagree with your opinions, and I'll attack your opinion, strongly and often with bad language. But I do not make it a personal thing here, or anywhere else, when discussing religion or politics. Timebuilder is a class act all the way, and is, in real life, a pretty good fella from what I know of him privately. I just disagree with his opinions and because it is a subject about which I am very passionate, I post using pretty strong lanuage sometimes.

But attack personally? Never. I don't stoop to name-calling. When I can no longer speak/write in a civilized manner I'll stop speaking/writing.

Thanks.

I too, always try to remain civil. Depending on mood, I, like most humans, can get a little worked up, more than I'd like on rare occaisions. I'm pretty even-headed these days. Certainly, modelling Christ in daily life is a big help. But there is more.

When I was a liberal, I made a habit of having no line whatsoever between my political ideas and my perceptions of individual people. I was vicious, angry, and I had an entire party behind me as I made derisive comments about conservative ideas and the people who held them, and Christians in particular. Imagine the comments you read hear about "fairy tales", an "imaginary god", or "some silly myth", and then raise that by a power of ten. Like Saul of Tarsis, I am ashamed of those days. Some of it was youthful indiscretion, and some was just plain stupidity.

So, if I seem a little long-winded and earnest, this is the evidence of a desire to undo some damage, from both a political and spiritual standpoint. Having worn both sets of shoes, I think that I have an insight that might be helpful to those who have questions about America, and why anyone should believe in God.

So now that you are a conservative, you make a habit of having no line whatsoever between your political ideas and your preceptions of individual people...

Flip Flop...

Geology assuredly does not reveal any such finely-graduated organic chain; and this, perhaps, is the most obvious and serious objection which can be urged against the theory. The explanation lies, as I believe, in the extreme imperfection of the geological record.

Actually, if you have been paying attention, you will notice that my political and spiritual renaissance (not to sound overly dramatic, but is was for me) lead to a change in the way I deal with people with whom I have a difference of opinion on policy, culture, and beliefs.

On the whole, I have been much nicer to you than I might have been in the 1970's. I call that a step in the right direction.

No pun intended.

Although this is a little late, I couldn't resist mentioning it.

The Venona Project (http://www.nsa.gov/docs/venona/) was started by Col. Charter Clarke back in the early 1940's around the time of McCarthyism. It's main purpose was the break the Soviet code, and was executed without President Roosevelt ever the wiser. They succeeded in breaking the code, and shortly thereafter discovered the identities of numerous Soviet spies within the United States. Fast forward to 1995, when the Venona Project documents were declassified.

The declassified documents revealed that the Roosevelt administration was chock full of Soviet spies. These spies had positions within the White House, State Department, the War Department, Treasury Department, and so on.

So, it seems that McCarthy was right all along. Perhaps this played a part in America's gradual socialist shift?

Don't forget that Harry Truman had a White House full of them as well.

BTW, Senator McCarthy never lied about anything or anyone...

prove me wrong!

Why is it so hard to accept "Evolution" as God's way of creating? Simple. Genesis. Genesis 1:1. Genesis Chapter 1:1 through 2:2. God created the earth in 6 days.

Exodus 20:11 "For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbth day, and hallowed it."

The world was created in 144 hours? How absurd...

Alternate definitions of the word "day":

1.) A period of time in history; an era.
2.) Period of life or activity.

But what does the word which was translated to the English word "day" really mean? A lot of meaning is lost during translation.
