We've operated a 1000 and an 840. Operating costs are virtually identical. Our DOC's are $750 per hour on both airplanes. Fuel burn at cruise is around 450 pph, usually truing 295 in the summer, 305 in the winter at FL 290 with full fuel and 4 people on board. Long range fuel is 475 gallons, which will give you easily 5+ hours endurance. We can take our 840 to the west coast with one stop, and can make it back (with decent winds) from Vegas to RDU nonstop. Perfect airplane for Mexico. Props are way off the ground, so rough strips like in Baja are no sweat. The airplanes are on a 150 hour inspection cycle. We usually end up paying around $5k for the inspections. Our 840 has nearly 11,000 hours and has been squawk free since we've had it. Great airplanes. The 1000 has about the same size cabin as the conquest and most have an aft belted potty. Support from Twin Commander Aircraft has been great, and parts prices are actually coming down.
