Just out today ... Comair will hire approximately 36 pilots with starting class dates in June.

There is a bid out now so where they hire into might depend on how that goes. JFK is currently the most junior base.

JFK and CVG

Last bid had 20ish JFK FO opening and 13 CVG FO openings and 8 GSO FO

if everyone is quitting where are they going

Majors, fracs, non-scheds, other regionals that offer fast upgrades, cargo, and a few are getting smart and getting out of aviation. To my knowledge, none have gone to prison or to Mesa (I'm not sure which would be worse!).

Because flightinfo is never, never wrong. . .

Maybe they're going to Republic/CHQ because they read on flightinfo that they were going to be bought out and stapled, so this is their big chance to get to the top of the Comair list (and the bottom of the CHQ one).

Heh.

Oh yeah, sign me up so I can get laid off two months after training. And yet there will be people lined up for this great job opening.

Beats Mesa!

That possibility exists anywhere these days.

I dunno... depends on how many D'angelos are running around Comair...there is something to say about being able to stand coworkers.

I'm not even sure that guy works here, haven't met anyone that talks like him. Either that or he is a coward.

He may not but I do know one like him did (lucky for you all he washed out of training) The entire crashpad was a happier place when he went home.

Excellent to hear! Karma catches up with some people.

Ok, Give It To Me Stright! Whats The Good And The Bad About Comair. I Just Got A Call For An Interview. Why Are People Quiting And Should I Even Go. I Don't Want To Give Up My 135 Job To Be Laid Off 2 Months Later. Help Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comair Info Please!

Knowing that Comair just started interviewing again I believe there isn't much of what is actually going on over there but I definately need info on training(paid or not), domiciles, actual pay per Hour, per diem, upgrade time etc...anything would be greatly appreciated from any Comair folks.(It's either this or Mesa!!) Thanks everyone.....:cartman:

Look at www.airlinepilotcentral.com for the current pay rates and per diem. We are actually still under the old rates; once the Flight Attendants come up with an agreement, we will go to the rates on that website. Training pay is $240/week until you pass your checkride, hotel provided if you are based anywhere but CVG. Expect to be based in CVG, GSO, or JFK.

And why is that?

.............thought so.

.....thoughts so, what? You did not prove anything.

Mesa in my opinion is a little more stable than Comair. A big problem that Comair has is it's parent company. I just quit Comair after 3 years because of job stability. I think new hires at Mesa have a little more stability than Comair. You can agree with it or not, it is just my opinion.

Name a good reason why someone should choose Comair over Mesa today. 3 years ago I gave up recall rights at Mesa (3 years of seniority) to come to Comair. If I could change it would I, absolutely not. I like Comair still. However today I would be a senior CA in ORD holding a hell alot better schedule than I did at Comair. With the upcoming paycuts that the pilot group (idiots) voted in for Fast Freddie, I could not live with the fact I was working with a spineless group of pilots. Call it like you want, the new payscales at Comair are just about the same as Mesa's, give or take a few bucks.

Not trying to persuade you either way, I hope things work out for Comair as I have alot of good friends who still work there. I just things are going to get worse before they get better. The writing has been on the wall for a while, it just took a while for me to see it. How many top execs have left Comair in the past 24 months? ALOT!!!!

where did I go? This OH FO went back to his old 135 job (flying Learjets), upgraded in 4 months, is making more than non-amended contract pay (2nd year), doesn't have to commute, is home with his family an average of 18 days (24 hour periods) a month and gone 5 nights a month. Plus, I get to fly out west instead of the crappy east, where it's BKN-OVC in CVG 6 of 7 days. Man, how depressing is that. And, did I say no more commuting? No more $350 per month just to go to work. No more getting jerked around on contract threats, possible base relocations, etc. No more stripteases for TSA. No more whiners in the crew lounge. etc, etc, etc. Life is good.
