Who did you talk to and when? I am surprised with your attitude that they did not offer you an interview. When did you speak w/ CMR? What airline did you come from?

I've decided...

to concentrate on finding a good Caravan job somewhere for a year or two in order to build some decent PIC Turbine time. I think that will give me an edge when the pilot market rebounds... if it ever does.

If anyone has a good lead in the Feeders please let me know.

300 hour pilots

Caveman,

You are right, it doesn't make sense to hire 300 hour pilots when there are thousands of more experienced pilots out there. The WMU grad that I spoke to said that the bridge program with CMR and WMU is actually part of DAL's affirmative action program (white males need not apply). According to him, DAL screens these people and, if accepted, they get jobs at Comair (he didn't say what the Comair interview process was like for him, so I don't know if he had to interview at Comair or if he was handed the job). Once these people get enough experience and DAL starts hiring again, guess who's resume will be on top of the pile.

For the record, I am NOT throwing out flame bait. This is what one WMU grad told me.

C425, thanks for the post. i basically said as much a few weeks ago on another thread about this subject. a DAL pilot then responded and basically said DAL didn't have anything to do with this program. judging from your post i would say he was wrong. i also forgot to mention the affirmative action thing...

caveman, i couldn't agree with you more, this is a bunch of bs...

i have even been displaced off of some flights so an intern could fly with IOE check airman because they are so weak in the sim they need extra training. at least i got paid for the trip...

Yep, we had at least one of the Western guys in our interview group this week. Around 250 hrs. Now that's an amazing opportunity these days!

I know a guy on another board that just got hired with 371 TT and 25ME on Chicago Express. However, he was interning for the CEO of the Chic Exp. Go Figure!

i know of 7 guys hired by Comair, 3 within the last 2mos. None had college degrees, all had 121 exp and >2500TT. It took me six months to get an interview at Comair from the time I sent my resume in.

Baron,
I don't know much about Comair, but, here's something you might try. If you are on good terms with your current employer, ask the Director of Pilot recruitment at your company to call Sharon and put in a good word for you. I think it helped a guy I used to work with to get an interview.

Godspeed brother

I saw a copy of a letter from ALPA that a friend had that said that Comair fired 3 probationary pilots this summer! Whats goin on??

Because of attitude problems for the most part. Captains are just not putting up with it anymore. You would think people would just be happy to be here.

Could you be more specific? What exactly are pilots doing that is getting them fired? Surely Comair doesnt expect every crew to get along like best friends, do they?

I'd heard of one guy being fired for not making it back to training on Monday morning, but nothing about anyone else...is it possible to be more specific about "attitude"? I would hope that they were pretty extreme cases...

i heard one was let go becuase they didnt resign their seniority from their previous airline after comair had addressed that issue directly with the specific pilot

Yeah, probably was a DAL guy.

It's gonna be pretty rough when we (DAL) start hiring again unless those guys get some sense and get rid of that MEC of theirs. Does Gray Davis mean anything to them? Now there's an example for them to follow.

One guy got into a pissing match with one of our captains. No, Comair does not expect everyone to be best friends, but FO's have to respect the captains authority and not argue with him about every single thing. The above example has been a real problem lately. We have FO's that were previously captains at another airline and do not like being in the right seat. Another new hire was trying to get released from ready reserve. He kept agravating crew scheduling. When crew sched would not give in, he got on a plane and went home anyway.

Now this is a new one to me.

That is disappointing.

What's professional standards' take on the whole thing?

Have the indoc / CRM courses been changed to reflect the problem?

What do you suggest that probationary pilots do to avoid a similar fate?

This hardly seems like an appropriate venue for this discussion. It's bad enough that the rumors are out there, but no one really knows what's correct and what's not.

Just my 2 cents.

No telling what they are looking for. Go figure. 4500 TT, ATP, 3years 121 exp. Not even a nibble on the resume.
