Comair Crash Part II, (Condolence Thread)

I was a pilot at Comair for almost 10 years and was terribly saddened today by the news of 5191. It wasn't long after I was hired at Comair when we lost flight 3272 in DTW. I knew the FO on that flight as well as Jim Polehinke, the FO on 5191. It brought back all the old feelings and memories of that terrible day in January, 1997. I have nothing but respect for the pilots and families of Comair and truly grieve for them all tonight. I pray for the quick recovery of First Officer Polehinke.

I did'nt know the crew of 5191; but Ken Reece, the FO on 3272 in DTW flew as my FO several times when I was a Comair Capt. I spoke to him the day he perished. This brings it all back. It's just so very sad, very, very sad.

Ken was my first instructor at flight school. He was an extremely sharp, smart and enthusiastic pilot. Never in a million years would I have I believed he could be involved in such a terrible tragedy. It just goes to show that it could happen to anybody at anytime.

I am so very sorry for everyone who lost someone today.

masedogg19 - Thank you for mentioning the Corporate crew, I felt hurt for the families of the Air Midwest and Corporate Airlines crew and passengers when they were overlooked today by the media. It feels wrong to discount some deaths because the airplane had less than 50 seats or was powered by turboprops.

May we all tread more carefully after such a tragedy. My heart goes out to everyone touched by this crash.
