If its the same interview group as mine, you probably won't hear until Nov. 16th, just speculating. How did it go? Any surprises?

With the number of pilots that Comair has walking out the door, I am surprised that they didn't tell you you had the job before the interview started.

Ditto! I'd think if you have a pulse and the times/experience, they'd save the postage and hire you on the spot!!

Bear in mind I was an idiot and left my former 121 carrier after 6 months. I spent the entire interview justifying my resignation from a very good regional airline. Live and Learn.

Where are they basing the new hires? Has there been any word on growth or is this purely for attrition? How is the lifestyle on reserve?

1. JFK seems like the obvious base, as it continues to expand

2. lots of growth possible. the number of aircraft removed from our fleet could grow as high as 73 airframes, out of a total fleet of @ 170.

3. reserve is great if you enjoy getting used every day you're available but still getting nowhere near breaking guarantee.

i heard because of new block hours in JFK (picking up Mesa's slack) every reserve FO in JFK has already been tagged for november. except for one.

As for breaking garuntee, I have broken garuntee every month isnce last winter. I'm at 86 hours for October. My last trip was a 21 hour 3 day, as opposed to my friend (whose a lineholder) 18 hour 4 day.

Soooooooooo, what do you say guys, CMR or XJT... ;)

Decisions, decisions.

Based solely on airlinepilotcentral.com, it looks like if that FA contract had gone through, CMR would have about the same pay scale as XJT or Republic or other large regionals. Still beats me how Delta can make Comair bid for flying, I thought being wholly owned would provide some protection from that. Does AA make Eagle bid for its flying?

Any word?

None. Who were you? I dont recognize the SN. Yeah he told us 3-4 days if we were going to be hired. If not expect a letter within 2 weeks. I take it from the passed time they either dont need us that bad or decided on someone else. They had interviews the day after us as well. Im losing optimisim.

Whats the basis for your speculation? Its been 1 week and no word. He told us if we were hired we would most likely know within 3-4 days. Otherwise expect a letter within 2 weeks.

They keep sending me an interview invite. However, the email is cutoff about halfway through, so I can't see the available dates, etc.

I'm just looking at the dates they offered me (the last being NOV. 16).

My question is: what do they pay during training, and how long do they pay for the hotel. This whole thing sounds too risky, but then again, if they pay for hotel and 70 hours/month line pay throughout training and ground school, it would be worth a shot.

You have to PFT for the second half of the email.

If I remember right, it's around $250/wk in training. Hotel for one week. Basically time for you to find an apt/crashpad. They pay for it the entire time if you are based other than CVG, but they play a little game of basing you in CVG until training is over, then it could remain CVG but will more likely be JFK.

That cut-off e-mail you keep getting...get used to it because that's indicative of the level of technology we operate with here. They probably have their top IT guy sending those out. The place is coming apart at the seams. Cancelled dozens of flights today for lack of crews. Amazing coincidence how that happens the day after an 1113 filing...

1113 filing? Whatever that is, it doesn't sound good.
Sounds like I better cancel my trip to CVG and look elsewhere.

Comair pays for only 5 days of hotel, after that you are on your own, also the last post is correct on everything but the fact of the matter is that you need your own transportation while in CVG. If not you are screwed! It's difficult to concentrate on basic indoc while having to worry about bs like that! IMHO

I've heard even lower than that now. We are severely understaffed now, especially in JFK.

Rumor is the hiring minimums are dropping to 800 and 1...supply and demand at work.

Actually it is 600 & 1. They are expanding the training footprint to bring the new hires up to speed on flying a plane that you don't have to climb onto the wing to get into.

The problem isn't with the new hire's flying abilities but with their poor attitudes. They have had to hire some personalities that they would have previously passed on. Some don't want to be here or at least tell you that... but then give some BS answer whey they took the job instead of waiting for their place of choice.
