Any furlough guys know if you can collect unemployement while in training at expressjet? I was thinking it is possible since you are only getting paid the per diem which is tax free and normal pay dosen't start till you pass your check ride so nothing is getting reported to the goverment or on your w-2. I just thought it would be nice to have the extra money.

No because you accepted full time employment. If you lie on the form it will catch up to you and you'll have to repay the money.

You should call your local Department of Labor who handles unemployment. They will give you the legal answer to your question.

I was told that until you are being paid for your work/training it does not count as employment. Since you are not "on the clock" until after your pc, you are still unemployed according to the feds. Per diem is not considered income.

I was on unemployment when I got hired at my airline and called to see if I could keep getting benefits. They said no because I accepted a full time job and since I was in training for a new job I obviously wasn't looking for another job. Give them a call, the worst they can do is say is no

In my state, they said NO. 40 hrs of training a week ='s full time job ='s no more free money from the state.
