The word is there are 10 SAABs coming from Eagle to Colgan. The first one is supposed to be on the property right now. I'm not sure if it is or not. They also said they are getting rid of the Cs.

Personally, I think the 1900 will be here for some time. It'll be a few years before they can get rid of them.

Anyone ever notice how physically large the Colgan Family's heads are? They look like grapefruits on toothpicks..

Too funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 1900s will NEVER leave.. When I was a new hire Colganite, the 1900s were on their way out... Yea, right!

The 1900 fleet is a fall back fleet. When U goes under and no one else has a want or need for Colgan, the Saabs will all go away and the 1900s will do EAS routes in Maine and WV.

It was a great business move for the Colgans to stop hiring PFTers in the 1900. Now, when they get the Saab fleet staffed, they will have hundreds of thousands of dollars stashed away when they furlough the whole lot of you.

Remember... they have a food court to keep open.

Hey, OH-58-Kind-of-a-warrior-all-weather-freedom-fighter plt (aka "chperplt") do they recognize blade time in TT?

I don't think they have a policy stating one way or another. The CP is a retired Army helo pilot, so I'm sure it counts to a point. In the three years I was there, no one ever looked at my logbook.. not even at my initial interview, which was over the phone.

When U goes away, The Colgan family has a bunch of money thanks to a bunch of PFTers..

U goes bye bye, Colgan goes bankrupt, the Saab leases go away, and the 1900Cs that they own, along with the 1 D they own start the Colgan Airways EAS company. All PFTers will get the boot to the butt, and they can take their 500 turbine SIC hours and tell all their friends stories about when they were airline pilots.

How is Colgan to work for? Are they actively hiring right now? What can a new hire expect from them ie. start pay/per diem, schedule, bases, commuting, etc. Thank you for your info in advance.

If you like getting your chain yanked every day of the week, they are a wonderful operation. Do a search on the company and see for yourself.

Are they actively hiring right now?

Yes, but it will cost you 18 grand for the job

I think Saab FOs start at $22 an hour. No per diem unless on an overnight, which is very rare.

Schedules generally suck and bases can change on a monthly basis. In three years, I was at 9 bases. 8 of the 9 were forced moves.

No commuting policy.. This is the latest comment from the company on commuting..

Commuters: There may be some poor weather on the way; have a back up plan and don’t miss a trip for lack of planning.

I was once told that I should have spent my entire 5 days off in base because a winter storm was brewing that might make commuting back to work difficult.

Don't get caught calling in sick if you can't make it back. That's abuse of the sick policy and could get you fired.

Chper, you KNOW you miss Colgan... why else would you still be quoting our memos?! Haaaaa! :)

How's things? Are you a professional gambler yet?

DON'T MISS THE LAUGHTER!

I know I don't miss the passengers laughing and cracking oneliners when they walk up and butt their heads on a doorway of LVE or LVS etc.

it's pathetic when they laugh at you at yet still get on board.

yes, they close bases.......they junior man ya. they don't promote in senority or to guys deserving the chance to be captain who have more than 1500 in type.

about the only fun I had was chiming out to the foreign controller(Mr. Moca hagati?) in boston, "COOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLgan 4976,"

when he wasn't already doing so and get him all wound up and listen to talk to the next guy.

if you're some guy stuck in a cessna, sure c'mon on board and get your time , ya-ya's, and wear the uniform. why not. get it and then get out.

New Colgan ad for Saab FO's doesn't mention PFT....

Who was the ad for?? It was either Tab or RAA.. Colgan is 100% PFT.

Chper, you KNOW you miss Colgan... why else would you still be quoting our memos?! Haaaaa! :)
Hey

I miss Colgan like I miss my hemorrhoids!

Life is good here. I'm glad I'm missing winter while I work on my sun tan out here! I start on the CRJ soon.

How's everything with you?

blah

My personal favorite is "Is the movie on this flight a commercial?" I love that one...

Job Post

1900 and Saab post were put up on 350.com. I sent a resume and keep getting a reply from Chuck. Looks like an automatted reply since it has come numerous times. However, it does look like it comes from Colgan and not tab or raa.

Just my cents

You still won't get hired without the 18K

350.com is advertising for Delta as well.. A real credible web site

I know the 2 classes going on now, one saab and one beech are PFT. However, ALL the PFTers are LOW time 400-900TT, some are young and won't be able to upgrade for a couple years due to age requirments. They need captains so they are looking at pilots with >1500TT. I know from an inside source that they will be hiring non-pfters. :)
no more babysitting!!
