Good Deal, I sent in the online app today. I hope I can manage to get an interview. I have 2100 and 250 do you think it is competitive? Thanks chprpilot for the info.
I have no clue what is or is not competative. I can tell you that out of the last class of FOs, I've flown with people that have 800 hours total and with people that have over 2000 total.
anyone know if 1300/300 is competitive? also is the $38 app fee really just that or is it just a way to bring in money during these hard times for pilots?
Just curious, if the app fee is for the cost of the background check, then why don't these companies spend the $38 fee on only those they hire, instead of everyone who applies?? I don't think a background check is done on everyone who applies.
If you are close to the mins...or above...you have a chance at colgan. If you are close to the times they want, send a resume and cross your fingers...gotta be in it to win it. If you are a 500TT cfi with no turbine time.....then i say hold on to your money. At this point though......a 2000 hour guy and 1500 hour guy are on equal ground i think......you gotta catch fax machines on there lucky days...they are just pulling resumes to call out of a hat now......and this is at all airlines. Except jetblue with that crazy computer thing. As the other guy said....recent new hires have all different levels of experience. They even have a few 600TT gulfstream people in the system.
You can spend all day bitching about paying $38 bucks for an application. Maybe the money goes into a pot and they buy everyone lunch on Friday with it.. Maybe they actually do use it to offset the cost of hiring people. The only fact we do know is that you don't have a job. If you want one at Colgan, Great Lakes, or some of the other airlines, you have to pay a stupid application fee.
Pay the fee and maybe get hired... Don't pay it and the decision has already been made. In the scheme of things, $38 bucks isn't a lot of money when you've already invested thousands.
Anybody get a response from Colgan after sending in the online app. I filled it out about a week ago and was just wondering. If so how long did it take and what kind of experience did you have. Thanks
you bring some info in and some ding dong is going to whine about 38 bucks for applying. Even when times were good, Mesaba hit you for about 100 bucks at the interview for helping to pay for the non-rev ticket you got on northwest to get you to the interview and for the background checks and the contracted sim evaluation. I didn't have a problem with paying the money back then. If you really want to work there, helping to cover the cost to apply shouldn't be an issue.
all the rest can save their money, don't go to the show. Don't be a naughty eskimo!
